Ayurvedic Teas – Based in 5,000 Year Old Wisdom

Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old system of holistic knowledge which teaches that balancing the mind, body, and spirit is essential for holistic well-being. If I am being totally honest, I never really understood what that word Ayurvedic meant until recently when I actually took time to Google the word. Basically, it’s a way of approaching life that aims to keep our bodies, minds, and spirits in balance for better health and better living. Let’s face it balance is an ever-changing target for some of us – a bit of an elusive goal some weeks. Many weeks I feel like I am just running all day, every day, until I collapse into bed at night.

If Tetley Ayurvedic Balance teas can help someone like me achieve balance, then why not give them a try? Tetley worked closely with Ayurvedic experts to create these teas that are crafted to balance every part of us at all stages of our lives. And they taste great too.

I’ve tried all three varieties of Tetley Ayurvedic Balance teas. All three of them taste amazing and they are all caffeine free which is something I look for. You might recall that I curtailed my caffeine intake about 2 years ago when I had some high blood pressure readings that were worrisome. Now I drink a lot of caffeine free tea and tisanes. Tea, in general, makes me feel happy, warm and centred, if only for five to ten minutes while drinking it and with Tetley Ayurvedic Balance teas I feel differently with each one. Calm, centred or energized – each of the teas has a different effect. I am happy to add these Ayurvedic Teas to my routine.

Tetley’s Line of Three Ayurvedic Teas

Each of the three delicious teas that Tetley has to offer with their Ayurvedic line has a different taste and appeal.

Poise-Vata

Poise-Vata is a calming tea with natural ingredients that helps you focus when you’re feeling scattered or worried. It’s a rich, complex blend with a warming spicy cinnamon beginning and a refreshing, zesty orange ending note. Inside this delicious Ayurvedic tea, you’ll find cinnamon bark, fennel, tulsi, licorice root, orange peel, and cardamom. This is a significant tea, as in it has a distinct taste, a specific comforting goal, and also a very quirky blend of ingredients.

Cool-Pitta

One of my favorite Ayurvedic teas from Tetley. This blend is cooling and calming for those times when you feel overwhelmed. Using peppermint, hibiscus, spearmint, lemon balm, coriander, and lavender, this cooling blend of mints features a subtle lemon twist and a floral finish. Tonight I had this one after dinner and put it in a travel mug to take to my daughter’s therapy riding lesson. I feel like it’s a great blend for nights like these when we are running and striving to get a lot done in a short time. As an added bonus, and there’s really no pretty way to say this – Cool-Pitta helps me with mild digestive issues. The blend of mints and lemon means that it helps when I feel like I have a bit of heartburn or bloating or anything like that. For me, it’s useful.

Vigour-Kapha

When you’re feeling sluggish, this blend can work wonders. Ginger root, tulsi, peppermint, spearmint, clove, turmeric, and cumin combine to give you an invigorating and heating blend with a hint of tingly mint. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and frankly I have never heard of it in a tea before so that’s a very cool combination. Vigour-Kapha is for days like Wednesday when you have back to back meetings, and you volunteered for a committee fundraiser and you might need to clone yourself to get your work done. And you woke up completely exhausted as well. I have had two cups of Vigour-Kapha today because it is supposed to be invigorating and I need two cups of that to help get me through an extremely long night as well. It worked because I managed to stay awake working until 11, despite the exhausted start.
