Halloween roundup and another giveaway

I was never really a huge fan of Halloween until I first became a homeowner and then became a mother. Now, I know what all the fuss is about and I truly enjoy the decorating, the leadup, the choosing little costumes, sometimes even sewing them myself. And what’s not to like about candy. The best part of the night for me is handing the candy out. I adore seeing the neighbour’s children all dressed up and find there’s something fun and magical about the whole affair. So from the start when my tots were young I looked for ways to have fun with Halloween, even some that weren’t so traditional. The first year my oldest child was old enough to go out we signed up for the London public Library annual Halloween trick or treat throughout the building, set up through the children’s branch of the library. It was great fun. Instead of story time that day we trick or treated throughout the building and got bookmarks, gift certificates, the odd piece of candy and erasers etc. This year thriftymommastips got word that one of my favourite venues in London is holding a fun alternative family Halloween night before the big event. The London Regional Children’s Museum, on Wharncliffe Rd. S., is hosting, with sponsorship from Rogers, a Family Halloween Night on October 29th from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Sifton Street Where You Live. Little ones can wear their Halloween costumes and trick or treat there. Also special super slime experiments and a fun bat cave will be happening. In addition to this the central branch of the downtown London YMCA is hosting a Halloween party on Oct. 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the whole family or $5 for a single child. All ages welcome. A live DJ will be there. There will also be prizes for costumes and games for the whole group. Visit the Y Centre branch for tickets.

In the spirit of London and family and Halloween, my next giveaway is a family pass to the London Regional Children’s Museum. That’s free admission for a family of four! So Happy Haunting!

Hey, there’s also Malloween at Masonville and we take R there. She had a blast last year. It runs from 5-7 on Halloween. Westmount has something going on to. My little lamb is going to be so busy that week with the Children’s Museum, Central Library and Masonville.
