Navigating Adoption and the Tween Years
Just 11 short years ago, my oldest daughter could be picked up and carried around. Sigh. Now she’s a tween. Let me just say the tween years are clearly preparation for the teen years ahead. But adoption and the tween years, well that’s just a special planet in the parenting journey. And me with Payton last summer at a Dove event. My kids are all sorts of awesome. Except when they are not. Sound familiar? I’m not complaining, because I love them, all the time, even when they are not particularly loving. Anyways I slept very poorly last night which is unusual because I am always exhausted when I finally…

OZ Preview
Is this movie one you can’t wait to see? Well, I know my kids are really excited about it. My husband is a bit concerned that flying monkeys may be scary, but I think it looks too good to miss. Can’t wait for the release of OZ.

Where Will You Go This March Break? #Linkedmoms
My Daughter after her last play It’s almost time. Can you believe it? How is it possible that it’s almost March Break? Well, regardless of where the last two months have gone, the fact is March Break is right around the corner and what on earth are you to do with all that spare time? (Chuckle) Well, there isn’t any spare time here. For sure. My oldest daughter performs with Original Kids and she is in the March break run of The Little Mermaid Junior Musical. So we have been there every week for the last two months – three days a week – and the play is almost ready…

#WordlessWednesday – Singing Linky
These are my girls. The oldest one auditioned last week to sing the national anthem at the World Figure Skating Championships. She sang beautifully and was one of only two kids who applied to do the gig. Wish her luck! I never could have done that as a child. I was a proud mom this weekend.

What is the New Normal #FamilyDay? #ohip4ivf #onpoli
On Family Day I wanted to spend my one thousandth post talking about family and the new normal and the changing face of family. Today, people will spend the day with their children, or their parents. Some may celebrate new births, a few may go out for dinner, sledding or to the movies. In our family we often take the afternoon to go skating on Family Day. It’s a fun tradition here at our house, one my daughter reminded me of today. I spent a lot of time thinking about family here lately, and policies that impact family. On Family Day I want families and politicians to use the occasion…

Learning about science is fun for kids and holds many hands on lessons. Iris: The Happy Professor is a quirky, fun bird that will take your kids on an educational adventure. Iris, Kids Collection, volume two, contains five episodes ranging from senses, to hair and hands and feet. Iris’s friends, the piano, plant and skeleton will help him in the classroom as Miss Principle drops by to see what the ruckus is all about.…

#FamilyDay Sweet Cheerios Treats #LMDConnector
This Family Day I felt like making a delicious treat I’ve had on my radar for awhile now. These chocolatey Cheerios bars looked so amazing months ago when I first spied them on the Life Made Delicious site, that I couldn’t wait. But we never really had the time, or the right ingredients until the other day. Now, I modified these just a little. The original version is a yummy Chocolate Cheerios Hearts for Valentine’s Day, but honestly we’ve had enough hearts for the time being and I just wanted something I could make with the fabulous Peanut Butter Cheerios I am loving here. So with that in mind I…

On the Eve of Family Day #ABHC4IVF #ABPOLI
Updated – for Family Day 2017 On the eve of Family Day 2013 I asked infertility patients a question. The answers were emotional and many were heartbreaking. For those who do not yet have a family many holidays are reminders of loss and grief and health care struggles. That could change if Alberta started to fund IVF in the province. There are currently in 2017 four provinces funding the procedure. Alberta is not yet one of those provinces. A couple of short weeks ago I asked the question on Generations of Hope Facebook page I help manage. The question was this: How do you tolerate Family Day? For some of us…

Cooking With Kids #HappyValentinesDay Easy Pops
I spied this one awhile ago on Alexandria Durrell’s Facebook page as a picture and thought it was perfect for Valentine’s Day here. Quick, simple to make and tasty too. She has some amazing treats on her blog today and they are much prettier than mine. If you don’t know Alexandria @clippo you should, she’s pretty amazing. Her posts on adoption are some of my favourites. This is her Valentine’s Day roundup of simple treats for kids. Anyways these are mine. Or were mine. They were well received and now all gone. Here is the low down on how to do this one. 1 Bag of marshmallows. I bag of those…
