My Avon Lady: Sales Jobs Are Rarely So Rewarding
This is a sponsored post. Avon is a company I have loved from the time I was a child. As a little girl, I browsed those brochures with passion and dogeared all the pages with cute girly necklaces or bath soaps. Once in awhile someone would buy me something tiny from the brochure and I was in heaven. Avon has always been a female focused, woman friendly company and in these last ten years I have come to love it even more. When we moved to our current home I searched for an Avon lady and luckily I found one. I love the progress I have seen over the years…

Go Green With Cheerios and Oatmeal Crisp
Remarkably the other day this was the conversation in my home. Husband: I did not like the new cereal. Me: It was on sale. I thought we might try it. Husband: You can’t beat Cheerio’s. Me: (thinking um, next time I stick you with the grocery shopping detail) Fine, I’ll try to find you some later. Then out of the clear blue a package of Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerio’s and Oatmeal Crisp arrived. Not even two hours after this conversation. For a brief moment I truly thought my home was bugged. Husband is a fitness junkie these days and refuses to eat sugary cereals. He has been buying Cheerios for…

Cooking With Children: Jello fun at the beach
This summer my youngest daughter has had endless amounts of dentistry. Well, not endless I guess, because it is finally done. Thank goodness for that. But it seemed to take a long time, especially since she is not a patient child and, although not a huge eater, needs to eat what she wants when she wants it. So an impulsive eater and one that is tiny in size. I am always worried with her about whether she gets enough food. Anyways, for a week of this summer, at separate intervals, she has been only able to eat soft food. So we’ve been experimenting with jello recipes. Pinterest is fabulous for…

Wordless Wednesday: Summer Shadows
I was shooting quick pictures of my daughter having fun at a trailer park where friends were staying recently when I spied her shadow. For some reason the image caught me as symbolic. Wordless Wednesday is a regular photography hop. I like to link up at http://www.tarasviewoftheworld.com/

I Am A Sandwich Generation Superhero #sandgen
What a difference a year makes. Readers of thriftymommastips.com know all about this journey we have been on with my mom. It started one year ago and led us down a really rough path for a long period of time. It was tragic, drastic, devastating emotionally and financially, and it has left us all changed. Last summer, my Mom spent the greater part of two months in London hospitals as we tried to figure out what was going on. She was hallucinating and she was confused. Meanwhile her symptoms escalated. It was a sad and exhausting time _ one I couldn’t write about because it was too close to the…

Thrifty Mommas tips Needs Your Help #Windowstyle Blogher’12 Contest
Some time ago I spied this contest hosted by the Microsoft Windows Team and @kristinalibby, a Windows team gal I follow. The details are send in a blog or vlog that tells us why you need a style Makeover for Blogher ’12. I like to vlog and I like to Pin on Pinterest. So I was torn, pin or vlog? Anyways, I combined a bit of both. Basically I live in my Lulu’s and that’s okay. A lot of Moms do. Plus, I write from home, so seriously most days who cares what I wear? Occasionally though, I step out and meet someone in person. I even have great business…
