18 Superfood Recipes for Good Brain Health

Superfood Recipes are a hot topic on my mind right now. We are, after all, doing a lot more cooking and creating at home this year. So, while we are clearly loading up on making treats and doing all of the bread maker recipes possible, I am developing and gathering some superfood recipes too.

Superfoods have been written about at length for years now. These nutrient rich foods, like kale, berries and nuts can provide great physical health benefits for your body. They can also be extremely valuable for good brain health. Recently, I have been reading a lot more about good fat and also about a supplement called choline.

Many parents with kids who have special needs, especially those in our FASD parenting groups are talking about choline right now. It naturally occurs in a lot of foods like salmon and nuts and duck eggs of all things. Also, a recent study has been done indicating it has benefits for those who have FASD (fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.)

So, what’s my point? Well, there are many ways to boost brain power, maintain physical health and grown strong brains in both children and adults.

All the great and healthy vegetables here in one soup with a little dose of cheese of course. That makes this soup a winner. Also these leftovers are KILLER good. My Easy Kale Chips – by Thrifty Mommas Tips

I almost forgot I had these on my site until I started hunting down more superfood recipes. These are so easy to make. Here’s what I do. If I buy a fresh batch of kale I use about half for my Italian Wedding Soup above and then I use the rest for crunchy kale chips. Part of the fun for us here sometimes is eating them and then smiling at each other on purpose to show off all the kale in our teeth. I have teenagers, so we make up our own fun.

Avocado Kale Smoothie – by The Little Epicurean

Need a super fast option that is easily digestible? How about a kale smoothie? This one looks exceptional and is more palatable than other kale smoothies I have made or seen or tried. I love kale but I don’t fancy the gritty fibre in a smoothie so grind that green stuff up and make it into this delicious avocado kale smoothie. So good for you!

These can be easily frozen and they are simple to make. Broccoli is another one of those vegetables that I add to most every single weekly shopping list. The kids enjoy it raw with a hint of dip and I throw it in all of the soups and stews. Next up, these broccoli fritters.

Also, this is the kind of recipe that kids, and teens with sensory issues LOVE to make. How do I know that? Well, my younger teen would easily be all in on this one. She loves making patties and fritters because you get to shape them with your hands and there’s something satisfying about that.
