Aromaspa

This week I took an afternoon to enjoy a pedicure, much needed after a couple of months spent barefoot chasing kids in the backyard or at the beach. I’ve been meaning to visit Aromaspa on Fuller Street, near Highbury and Huron in northeast area of London, Ontario ever since they opened early this summer. And so with both my girls back at school I made an appointment. Thinking that this tiny hidden away spa might simply be the mani-pedi equivalent of a hit and run, I was very pleasantly surprised when I ventured in. Tastefully decorated, quiet and dark, Aromaspa oozes ambience, relaxation and adulthood. I have now had the chance to try both a manicure and a pedicure at my wonderful secret spa and both were well within the price range of some of London’s more well known spots. Aromaspa offers manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and make-up as well as eyebrow and eyelash tints. Tucked away in a small mall at the corner of Highbury and Huron, the new spa bills itself as stress free, and in fact, I felt my stress melt away for at least one hour as I had a pedicure this week. The pedicures range in length and style. An express pedicure is $25 and takes about 35 minutes. A traditional pedicure is $40 for 45 minutes. An aroma pedicure is $60 and includes paraffin wax treatment, which I had for the first time ever, a warm waxy treatment that left my feet feeling softer than a newborn’s. Manicures range from $20 to $40 depending on the amount of time you have before you have to pick the kids up at school. I loved this nearby hidden treasure and will go back. My pedicure looks great. My express manicure was lovely, but one nail fogged up slightly and took on an odd cloudly look after two days which was quite perplexing. I will definitely try the paraffin again. As a foot note – get it – the spa offers teen packages and caters to men too. I have occasionally taken my eight year old with me to various other London pedicure spots, but this one is, in my opinion, not to be wasted on the kids. It is a grown up indulgence to be enjoyed when you want to be alone, relaxing, having a Mommy moment. 519-455-1SPA open every day but Sunday.
