Christmas Stories: Tin Soldier app and game made for PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone is a perfect seasonal diversion for almost any age. Christmas Stories: Tin Soldier app and game is a hidden object adventure game that starts with your return from battle. You are a soldier, finding on coming home that the Rat King has turned several people into toys since you left the palace. You must hunt throughout the palace and the city to find puzzle pieces that unlock treasures.

At the outset of this fun game you receive a letter from your friend Albert asking for help. The Rat King’s evil wand has fallen into the hands of an evil and vengeful baron. Three innocent people, including Albert, have been turned into toys. You team up with the nutcracker and your new friend the toy soldier to remove the baron’s curse.

I enjoyed finding the puzzle pieces here and putting them together. This is a relatively simple game, with several fun built in challenges. You can challenge yourself and play at a higher level if you choose. I opted for beginner level during the first round so I had access to hints and was able to whip through fairly quick. Defeating the first troll, even with hints, proved fun and harder than expected. You are given the hint that trolls hate loud noises and I was clicking around hitting all the objects that made a noise, but that wasn’t doing anything to fix the troll blocking front door of castle. I eventually figured this out by combining two to three of the treasure I had found I could make a noise big enough to cause him to move and then I moved throughout the palace. The trolls are fun and the game itself is amusing. I like the seasonal aspect of it and the graphics are beautiful, which is what I have come to expect from Big Fish Games. I think Hans Christian Anderson would be amazed at this version of his story.

I like this game for ages nine and up. It’s family friendly.
