I Need All The Help in the Kitchen

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. I am not naturally creative in the kitchen. I need guidelines and tools that help me to step outside my comfort zone. In fact, I have a list of 20 or 25 dishes that I make well and I keep them on rotation consistently here. Chicken and rice, cheese and bean enchiladas, tacos, pork chops, pork tenderloin, stuffed green peppers and pastas. That’s the comfort zone right there, plus a few other items.

Sometimes my girls and I dabble in the kitchen baking or trying a new dish together. Those are fun days and they seem to enjoy cooking and baking. This week my copilot Ainsley is off at camp so I opted to make something she would not like – she hates lemon. Odd child. Anyways, the rest of us love lemon, so homemade lemon sorbet for the win.

I love lemon and I have never ever tried to make a frozen dessert so when I spied a host of these listed in the cookbook called Simply SuperBlending compiled by Breville that comes with the Super Q, I knew which tasty frozen treat I would make.

The hardest part about this recipe was pulling all the seeds out of the lemons. Homemade lemon sorbet is super simple, with sugar, lemons, lemon zest and ice cubes! Easy peasy. And it turned out great!

Kitchen Tools That Nurture Independence

The older our girls get, the more independent they become, that includes the kitchen. We’re always on the go, so smoothies and freshly blended juice is a common snack for both of them. The Breville Super Q does an amazing job for both smoothies and juice, as well as anything else I need to blend.

I’m not really surprised, though. We are big Breville fans in this house. Every appliance we own from the company works like a charm and does everything we ever need it to. Whatever the task at hand, Breville always looks good too.

The Super Q Makes It Easy

I have had my share of blenders over the years, and it’s always the same story with them. They blend some things and not others. The power seemed to be all over the place with them. Blending fresh fruits? Check. Adding ice or frozen fruit? No. Every other blender sounded like it was going to fall apart from the strain.

After years of blenders that sometimes struggled to keep up, we now have a powerhouse blender that stands up to anything we put in it. Blending smoothies with ice or whole, frozen strawberries is super easy. It just chews them right up. Easy peasy.

That’s such a nice change of pace because, in the past, we often had to pre chop frozen fruit pieces before we blended them. What kind of sense does that make? None. The answer is none.

Specs

Okay, now that we’ve established that I love Breville and the Super Q, let’s get down to brass tacks. It’s fine that I love this company, but you want to know the nitty gritty of this machine, I’m sure.

This wonderful machine is commercial grade and specially designed for the kitchen. It has a super powerful motor, rugged parts, and variable speed settings which helps you get smoother, softer textures, and power through the most demanding ingredients. It is a beast and it is large so be warned.

  • POWERFUL 1,800 watt motor with 186 mph blade tip speed under load
  • 5 one touch programs: smoothie, green smoothie, soup, frozen desserts and auto pulse ice crush (LOVE these settings.) I used frozen desserts setting for the homemade lemon sorbet.
  • 12 speed settings for creating cocktails, salsas and dips, nut and bean milks, nut butters, and fine milled flours
  • Compatible with Vac Q vacuum pump, allowing air to be removed from the jug before blending for better texture, colour, and flavor
  • Clip & Secure lid for reliable containment while mixing even the most demanding items
  • This unit comes with two blending vessels. Base automatically detects which vessel is on the unit.
  • One touch auto clean function uses water and detergent to clean the jug and blades easily

Accessories:

  • Scraper
  • Tamper
  • Travel Lid
  • BPA-free Personal Blender Cup (SUPER USEFUL FOR US!!)
  • Personal Blender Blade System

The Super Q is Our Kitchen Heavy Hitter

Since we started using the Super Q, we’ve had some tasty smoothies that are actually smooth and juice that is more juice than pulp. It handles ice and large pieces of frozen fruit like a champ, and with all those settings, it’s been easy to make anything we want. I just used it to make a scrumptious lemon sorbet dessert which in this heat is so refreshing!

You know that saying – always surround yourself with people that are smarter than you? I feel like it applies to gadgets and appliances too. Fill your kitchen with small appliances that are smarter than you to make you and your family look good! Breville does that for me.

If you’re looking for a new blender, I can’t recommend the Super Q highly enough. It’s a kitchen champ. The blending power is top notch, and the self cleaning option is fantastic. Check out the Breville Super Q for yourself.
