First Day in Chicago #Blogher13 #travel #health

style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Day One in Chicago and we celebrated with a Sea Dog Cruise at Navy Pier, hosted by Madame Deals. The architectural and fireworks cruise was a fantastic way to see the night landscape in Chicago and a fun chance to catch up with some blogging friends.
I woke up super early and grabbed a taxi to Margarita’s house where I knocked on the door at 4 a.m. and had no answer. Panicking just a wee bit, thinking she left without me, I rang her doorbell and she answered: “I hit snooze.”
Half an hour later we were on the highway and shortly after that we crossed the border near Port Huron and hopped on Amtrak. Eight hours, and a long train ride and we checked in exhausted. After a short refresher, we hit the streets of Chicago to look for food and also to do a bit of shopping. The city is much cleaner than I expected and incredibly beautiful. The building and history are worth the trip alone. Plus Navy Pier is fun for the whole family. While restaurants and shopping are world class.
On my first full conference day, I was fully engaged in Blogher 13 Health Minder sessions. This series of pre-conference sessions has always been gold for me. Such a super opportunity to catch up on special needs issues, health and fitness and sandwich generation ideas and conflicts too. Health Minder is incredibly inspiring. There are always numerous rounds of networking parties. But on the first day, we managed to stroll the Magnificent Mile, dine at The Purple Pig, visit an American Girl store and sight see.
Thanks to Madame Deals and the Sea Dog Cruise at Navy Pier. The tour guide was great and the cruise was the perfect way to see Chicago on our first evening there. Stay tuned for more from my conference series this week. Blogher is a great learning opportunity for businesses, brands and bloggers. I never regret the extra fee for the pre-conference sessions and I have learned coming in early is the only way to go for this conference.
We received a free cruise in exchange for the post. My opinion is all my own.

    Gorgeous shot of the fireworks! I’m hoping to go to Blogher someday. Chicago looks beautiful from the photos I’ve seen 🙂 I would love to go there someday.
