Grownup Lunches and The Grazing Bunch Fiber 1 #Giveaway

My girls have always been grazers. You know the kind of children that need regular input of small amounts of food at consistent intervals. Snackers. Yup. So the challenge there has always been managing their cravings and providing small nutritious snacks that aren’t too dense in calories. In our house, fresh fruit is always on hand and so too are carrots and things like that. We maintain the philosophy that kids make better food choices when there are healthy choices in abundance. We try to encourage them to choose milk and water over juice or soda pop. And then there’s fiber. I’d like to say that fiber is never a problem because of the amount of fruits and vegetables we consume, but in reality everyone struggles with maintaining the right amount of fiber in their diet. Especially daughter number one. So when I find a product that boosts fiber intake naturally, I buy it. Bran and flax seed and psyllium and salba are all added to our diets frequently. At the same time here I am also always hunting for new products, healthy products that are easy to pack and take with us several places. My husband has taken lunch with him every day for the last 12 years, ever since we moved to London. He makes his own lunch and always has. That is not a job I do, but I do the lion’s share of the grocery shopping which means I try to vary it up a bit. There’s only so many different varieties of granola bars that a person can pack. When several new fiber 1 products arrived here recently I was excited to try them and involved my family in the process. IMG_3115

Fiber 1 Brownies are only 110 calories. We also sampled Nature Valley Granola Thins, with chocolate coating and Fiber 1 chocolate caramel and pretzel bars. The Fiber 1 chocolate and caramel pretzel bars contain 20 % of your daily fiber intake. The chocolate caramel pretzel bars are great. Delicious and tasty and, even better than that, only 100 calories. They could easily replace the less nutritious chocolate bars when you get a craving for something sweet. (And in our house we crave sweet often. We don’t always indulge, but we really do have a collective sweet tooth issue.) My plan for the summer is to stock these and replace chocolate cravings with Fiber 1. Nature Valley Granola Thins are a sweet variation on the old standby. These toasted granola squares have a crisp texture and they are rich and creamy at only 90 calories. Our whole family really enjoyed the Brownies. My husband happily dressed up his lunch with Fiber 1 Brownies. These are available in chocolate peanut butter and chocolatey fudge. You can find them in the granola bar aisle. That’s good information for me to have, because I need to restock already. My whole family liked these, especially my husband. Good enough for the Grownup lunch bag!
