Play Away – Discover London’s Newest Indoor Play Space

Play Away is London’s newest indoor play space for families. Imagine a huge, safe, indoor Canadian-made play structure with numerous slides. Now add a toddler area and a giant jumping pillow that’s one of only three in the country. Plus wifi and a cafe. Play Away is hours of fun for all and it’s the solution to Rainy Day, or PA Day Blues.

Fun is the Name of the Game at Play Away

Play Away is exciting to me because it focuses on everything that I’ve been instilling in my kids since they were little. It’s an indoor gym devoted to making fitness a fun and integral part of life by exposing kids to the joy of movement and exercise. This super clean playground has clear sight lines, healthy food options AND free WiFi. There are soft blocks, a three-storey climber and a cute race track.

Play Away also runs private parties and birthday parties. They have fitness programs occasionally too. The owners opened in August of 2016 and they currently employ 7 people. It is a small family run business that fills a need in east London.

“My husband and I really just wanted a place where we could sit back, drink a nice coffee and let our very active kids (5 ) and (3) run around. London is amazing for families – the libraries, playgroups, playgrounds and paddling pools are so much fun, but we saw that the east had nowhere that little kids could explore and try new things physically indoors, ” owner Katie Singer said recently.
“We knew it had to be a big space and we wanted it to be on the East side of London,” said Singer. “There are a couple of other indoor play areas in London, but until now there was nothing on the East side.”

Fitness Programs

Play Away makes fitness fun for kids by establishing that movement is something to be enjoyed. There are also occasionally fitness classes offered. But, check the schedule first. Play Away offers Baby Bootcamp – Private fitness class (registration only) that gets mom or dad into shape while making it a fun interactive activity for babies 3 months to toddling. That begins April 21st and runs on Friday mornings.

All classes and day passes are affordable! Look for these classes.

  • Propellers – For children aged walking to 3 years, this class focuses on building a child’s confidence with their movement and making physical activity fun.
  • Combo Dancers – A combination of dancing and gymnastics for kids aged 2 to 4.
  • Flyers – Teaches falling, tumbling, hopping, dancing and more to kids aged 3 to 5 for a strong foundation in making fitness fun.
  • Yoga Tots – A parent and tot yoga class for moms and dads with kids under 4.

Snacks

While Play Away offers healthy snack options, they also offer standbys like pizza and hot dogs. Their menu is decent and has something for everyone. The cafe serves fair trade coffee.

    • Patrick Beans – Fair trade coffee
    • La Noisette – Fresh-baked nom noms
    • Hot Food – Pizza, Grilled Cheese, Hot Dogs, etc.

The thing that struck my fancy first is that this facility works for both parents and kids. If  your children are toddlers and need you nearby, you get right in there and climb with them too. And if your kids are 9, 10, and even 11 and you just need them to be busy for a few hours, bring your laptop or tablet and log in. There are comfortable seats, banks of chairs and a countertop style table. Get work done while keeping an eye on them.

Play Away Fitness Fun Done Right

Play Away is located in London, ONTARIO at 2469 Aviation Lane near the London International Airport. They are open seven days a week. PD/ PA Days and March Break days are super busy. $7.95 per child plus HST for the day. Ten packs of passes are $69.95 plus HST.

Birthdays and private parties are extremely affordable, but booking fast. Play Away has a private party room as well.

With classes, delicious snacks, clean equipment, WIFI, and space for parents to work too, it’s no wonder Play Away is already a hit. This is hands on fun, indoor, playground action.
