Save and Scrimp Fridays and Disney On Ice

So here it is Friday again and I’ve got a couple of excellent hot tips for you to help kick off the new year/decade. First off go visit your local library right now if you live in London. The Disney On Ice/Monster Jam reading contest is on right now and I’ve gotta say this is one of my favourite times of the year. From the time my girls were two years old we have managed to see Disney On Ice at the John Labatt Centre for free. Yes, that’s right. $0. Sweet deal, right? So follow these tips and you will be able to choose this year between Disney On Ice Princess Classics and Monster Jam. I have two daughters who love to read about as much as they love all things Disney so as soon as this contest is announced we go to our local library branch and get a sign up sheet. We went yesterday so I know there is plenty of time left for this contest. Ask at counter to sign up for the “contest.” Then read, read, read. It’s as simple as that. Keep the little yellow reading log sheet with you and document every library book that your child reads. Then every time you are in the library show the sheet to the librarian and she will give you a ballot to enter the contest. Fill these out each time and make sure to tell librarian this year which show you want to see: Monster Jam or Princess Classics. At the end of January the library closes the contest and picks the winners. The winners get two vouchers to see Princess Classics on Feb. 25th at 7 p.m. or Feb. 26th at 10:30 a.m. or two vouchers to see Monster Jam March 6th at 7:30 or March 7th at 2 p.m. The excellent top secret thing they don’t tell the kids is that everyone is a winner who enters. So expect a call on January 30th telling your child they won tickets. They will be so excited. Trust me on this. (My children share my enthusiam for free stuff here at thriftymommas house) So for our family both girls enter the contest and both win two vouchers meaning our family of four goes for free. Yippeee! And it is always a great show! PSSTT… immediately after you get the vouchers go and exchange at the Labatt Centre for actual tickets. Don’t forget that part or your times and seats will be very limited. See you there.
