Spring Forward: Schedule These Six Daylight Savings Time Tasks #ChurchandDwight

Spring Forward with Daylight Savings Time

Daylight Savings Time can be a good news, bad news kind of event. Good news – it stays light later at night. Bad news – changes of any kind can throw the kids for a loop and sleep sometimes is completely messed up due to the time change. But, regardless of whether you love it or hate it, Daylight Savings Time can be a reminder to manage certain household tasks that you sometimes neglect or forget.

March 12th marks Daylight Savings Time this year – the day we welcome a much needed extra hour of sunlight after winter! For some people the extra hour of sunlight equals more time spent outdoors due to warmer temperatures. This season the time change means home repairs here. This spring we start two big jobs. One is the roof, and the other is the pool heater – it’s a busy time.

Anyways, because of all the other tasks and events happening here I need to remember to attend to a few other things so the family has a pleasant and healthy spring. If you are forgetful or routinely over-scheduled add these to your calendar now. Add monthly or quarterly reminders for these sometimes forgotten tasks.

Schedule These Six Daylight Savings Time Tasks

Replace toothbrushes:

Did you know The Canadian Dental Association recommends you change your toothbrush every three months[1] ? Place a sticker at the start of every third month of the year to remind you to buy new  toothbrushes or draw a toothbrush on the calendar to remind you to change it.

Replace mascara:

This one is for the Moms out there who sometimes forget to take care of themselves when taking care of their family. Change the mascara out regularly. Eye health is important. Replace mascara every three months.

Check medicine expiry dates:

Remember that all medicines expire, including vitamins and supplements. To ensure your medicine cabinet is up to date, schedule a simple calendar reminder for twice a year. This will remind you to check the expiry date and re-stock, if necessary. Also remember if you have expired medications take them to the pharmacy to be disposed of properly.

Double-check Smoke Alarm Batteries:

(Do this monthly to be safe) Fire safety and family health go hand in hand.

Change the baking soda in your fridge:

Place a box of Arm & Hammer™ Fridge-n-Freezer™ or Fridge Fresh™ Baking Soda in your fridge or freezer helps to eliminate odours. While many use this simple tip, it can be easy to forget when it’s time to replace the box. When you purchase a new box, jot down a replacement reminder on the box for a month’s time to maintain maximum odour elimination, ensuring your food stays fresher, longer.

Add Some Vitamins to Your Routine:

Spring forward with healthy habits. Getting the required amount of fruits and veggies can slip our minds during hectic days. Add Vitafusion™ Vitamin D to your routine, especially during the fall and winter months, when heavy clothes and cloudy weather can inhibit the production of Vitamin D in the body. Very few foods naturally contain this vitamin and a supplement may be useful to get your necessary intake[2]. Known as the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D supports bone and teeth health – Vitafusion™ Vitamin D also comes in a delicious gummy and is the perfect alternative to a hard-to-swallow pill.

Daylight Savings Time is a Great Time to Help Jog Memory:

In fact, Daylight Savings Time heralds the start of spring and that can be a very positive time. Throw open the windows and enjoy the fresh air. Take time to add these tasks as needed, but don’t worry if you forget one or two, pin the post for later.
