You might know grapefruit seed extract as a supplement, but did you also know it can be used for a homemade cleaner, or a fruit and vegetable wash? There are quite a few ways to use grapefruit seed extract that are simple and affordable too. Many commercial cleaners are available that kill bacteria and germs in your home, while sometimes using questionable toxic chemical ingredients. If you, like me, try to limit the chemicals you expose your family to, then you might want to know about these easy ways to use Grapefruit seed extract. Grapefruit seed extract is a supplement made from seeds and pulp of the grapefruit. It can be a great, non toxic, way to disinfectant your household. With grapefruit seed extract’s ability to kill bacteria, fungi and parasites, it has the power to replace almost all of your toxic household cleaners. All Purpose Germ killing cleaner Fill a 32 ounce spray bottle with water and add from 40 – 60 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Put the cap back on, shake, then spray were germ killing and cleaning is needed. This is great to replace those new germ killing sprays, that you use around trash cans or other germy surfaces. Cutting Board cleaner Instead of using toxic bleach, try putting about 15 – 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract onto a cutting board and rub it in really good, with a cloth or sponge, all over the board. Let the board sit for at least 30 minutes. After the time is up, rinse the board off with water. Non-Toxic Mold Killer This is for typical household mold. It is best to have a professional inspect your home if there is excess mold and you are not sure of the type of mold it could be. Mold can be dangerous to your health, so don’t touch it if you are unsure. Put 15 to 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract in 2 cups of warm water. Add to a spray bottle and spray onto the mold, leave it on and do not rinse it off. Add some essential oils to make a mold and germ -killing air freshener spray. We sometimes get very tiny mold spots in the shower. Food wash You can use this for fruits and veggies. It is a lot cheaper than buying a prepared sprays in stores. Fill up your sink with water and add about 35 drops of grapefruit seed extract, while the sink is filling. Put the food items you need to wash, in the water and let them soak for a brief time. Take them out and use as you like. Or a Spray.. If your sink is full of dishes, and you don’t have the time to clean them up, you can turn the grapefruit seed extract into a spray and use it like the commercial spray washes available at most grocery stores. In an average 32 ounce spray bottle, fill with water and add 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Put the cap on, shake it up and spray as needed. Always Use Caution I am sure there are many more uses for the product, but as with all products that are used in your home, exercise caution. Try a little bit first to see that it works, especially relevant for the food spray of course. Post contains affiliate links as a service to my readers.

Rosemary soap smells fantastic and has a little bit of an exfoliating factor too. That makes it a gorgeous addition to your shower or beauty routine. Have you always wanted to make homemade soap, but never quite got around to doing it or figuring out how to make it? Well, today’s your lucky day because I have a foolproof, easy DIY for Homemade Rosemary Soap. Crafty Kids My teen is slightly obsessed with all things Pinterest. So, when it comes to crafts, and the like, she’s always hunting things down on Pinterest. To be clear, she’s obsessed with a lot of social media channels, not just Pinterest. But Pinterest has the best crafts and recipes and DIY ideas. So, this idea of making soap has really appealed to her for years now. Yes, that’s right, my teenager is crazy crafty and always has been. Way, way, back in the days when she was a little bean I had to enrol her in Preschool because of the crafts. I couldn’t keep up with her crafting. It was nuts. I didn’t have any intention of having my entire day consumed by crafting since I also had a new baby at the time too. She has been asking to get supplies to make homemade soap for awhile now. I put it off for a bit. But recently we decided it was simply time to get this done. So, I figured this one was worth sharing with my readers too. Easy peasy and so pretty too. Homemade Rosemary Soap You can get the soap making supplies like the soap base and soap molds at a craft store. Or grab them on line from Amazon. There are several soap making holds here. Check these soap molds out. Soap Making Supplies: ¾ lb melt and pour soap base (white) 1 tbsp dried Rosemary Small glass bowl Spoon or wooden popsicle stick Rectangular soap molds (3) Instructions to Make this one Yourself: Step 1. Put soap base in glass bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir very well. If not completely melted, repeat at 10 second intervals. Step 2. Stir Rosemary into the bowl. Step 3.Spoon mixture into the soap molds. Step 4.Let set for about 30-60 minutes and remove from mold. Making soap is a pretty easy activity to do and doesn’t require too many ingredients either. So why not get started now!

Who else loves bath bombs? I have teen girls and I can tell you that bath bombs are a massive hit here. But they can also be extremely expensive when you buy them. This year I thought what if we made some DIY Easter bath bombs to put in the Easter baskets? Happy Easter! There’s something about spring that makes me feel creative! I want to bust out the craft materials and the recipes and start building something fresh. Spring is a great time for that, don’t you think? This easy DIY Easter bath bombs recipe is just the thing you need this season. You can make them and use them yourself, or package them up in a pretty basket or takeout style container and gift them to someone special. Ingredients 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup cream of tartar 1/2 cup corn starch 2 tablespoons Epsom salt 2 tablespoons coconut oil ( oil NOT cream ) 5 teaspoons water 3 drops essential oil ( found at Michaels or online ) food colouring Directions Use a large bowl, add baking soda, cream of tartar, corn starch and epson salt. Add in the coconut oil into the dry ingredients admix well, until the mixture becomes sandy with an oil feel. One teaspoon at a time, begin to add water to the dry ingredients, stirring it in immediately with a large spoon. Continue to add the liquid until your mixture resembles damp sand. It should still be partially dry, but when you squeeze a handful together it could form a ball. Add food coloring and your essential oils, by mixing them into the liquid ingredients. if making several colors separate mix not 3 or more bowls and old and food coloring in each bowl as you desire. When the mixture is the color you want, take a small amount and press it firmly into each side of the easter egg mold. Allow to dry for a 24 hours or more. Gently remove from the easter molds and place on a flat surface for another 4 hours. Then store in an airtight container until ready to use. These are perfect for gift baskets for teenagers, or tween girls too. DIY Easter Bath Bombs These DIY Easter bath bombs will be a huge hit, especially if you have teenage girls like I do. Happily these are not too hard to make. But be prepared to be patient. Don’t expect perfection overnight. They might take a bit of practice. But they will save you a bundle and best of all they don’t give you cavities!
