I need to tell you about one of the best gifts I have received this year. This adorable tiny What I Love About Mom book. What’s so unique about this fill in the blank journal gift? Read on to find out. This past month I celebrated my birthday. I am a July baby. For the first time ever I was away from my family on the day itself and in fact was zip lining with Ziptrek tours in The Laurentians, Mont Tremblant, Quebec. That was a great day and one of the most memorable ways I have ever spent my birthday. Still it was a bit hard being away from family on my birthday. I know it seems like a small thing but often it’s the small tokens from the heart that sometimes mean the most. This Knock Knock What I Love About Mom Fill In The Love Journal is one I will treasure forever. My daughters both filled in all of the pages to tell me how they feel about me. The fill in the blanks range from sentimental to sweet to downright funny. I am in awe of your…. talent – says one page. I’d love it if ….we could travel together again soon. From Payton (my oldest daughter ) I wish I had been around ….to see your big 80s hair. Love the sound of your voice when you sing me the good morning song. It makes me smile how you always grab two forks instead of one (this is my special talent every single dinner I end up with 2 forks. Sometimes when my kids set the table they put out two forks automatically to see if I will laugh.) LOL!! For the record, I am not a good singer at all, so that was sweet. Stylish Stationery and Quirky School Gifts #LoveHallmarkCA

We all know Hallmark for cards and fun singing seasonal toys. But did you know that Hallmark has stylish stationery too? It’s true. This year Hallmark’s beautiful back to school stationery and one of a kind gifts have captured my imagination. This year these adorable Toe of a Kind socks showed up here and the kids flipped. UNI-Kitty is hilarious and so fun for my tween starting back to high school next week. And the Game On Toe of a Kind socks are super cute for my Pokemon and Minecraft loving tween. These couldn’t have been better suited to my girls. Ever since the Peanuts Movie came out my youngest has been captivated by Peanuts drawings and comics and characters. So she and I both lit up when we spied these fun glasses. Linus and Charlie Brown decorate the set of glasses that retails in store for $24.95. You can collect all of the characters and buy a couple of different sets. Pretty stationery and journals and agendas rule the day though at Hallmark this time of year. I am enamoured with my pretty Hallmark Clipboard with tablet ($9.95 – the tablet is an 80 page set of paper) and there’s a gorgeous little matching floral journal shown above in picture ($11.95). This is some of the prettiest stationery I have ever had. I love that it matches. This pattern also is repeated in a small catchall glass dish that is perfect for tiny objects like watches, pens, keys and cell phones when you come in after a long day. So Darn Happy journal has been claimed by my youngest daughter who likes the sentiment and the canvas/burlap look of the binding. The leopard print journal is going to my teen and she might also land the French Bulldog agenda. So cute and dogs are her thing. Prettiest Stationery For Back to School Chic and pretty planners are available in abundance this year and you can find one to fit any teacher, or student’s style. I am thrilled to have a really beautiful and fun 2017 agenda. And it matches several of the pieces in the back to school in style lineup. On Fleek Fashion Angels Back to School Style #BTS

One of our favourite tween fashion brands has always been Fashion Angels. We love their adorable cosmetics, and hair accessories. We can’t get enough of their fun back to school stationery and supplies too. Fashion Angels makes adorable tween back to school accessories for your Fab girls. The last couple weeks of summer can be a frenzy of back to school shopping but this year we lucked out. Fashion Angels Style Lab produces the cutest accessories and they sent us some of their latest tween fashion products. Ainsley was thrilled with this LED Style Lab Unicorn watch for back to school. It is fun, fashionable and functional. That is being saved for the first week of school, as are the most adorable eraser rings. LOVE those. BLING BLING. IF you like it then you should have put an eraser ring on it. Smelly Jelly markers are perfect for any tween back to school pencil case. Who doesn’t love scented things? And speaking of scented back to school accessories… My youngest daughter has been asking to dye her hair for weeks. But it made no sense to me to dye it before going away to camp. It also made no sense to dye hair and then hop in our swimming pool and have it wash out in the water. But these awesome Fashion Angels Rainbow Unicorn Sparkle Scented Hair Mists were perfect! The name alone makes me happy. We also received a Fashion Portfolio colouring sketch book, which went with one of the girls to camp this year and was appreciated, because that bus ride was a doozy. It lasted for more than a few hours and there’s still plenty of creative drawing and colouring left to do during bus rides home from school. The sketch books and journals are perfect for the traveling we do too. We also enjoy the cosmetics and crafts line from Fashion Angels. For back to school this year we love the canvas journals with fun sayings like – Be a Cupcake in a World full of Muffins and PERFECT is BORING. Perfect is Boring journal is PERFECTION for my tween and teen. FYI pretty much any of this stuff could go with a tween to camp and they’d be in heaven. Plus they’d be the hit of the cabin if they shared these great crafts and fashion accessories. Five Essentials for Conference Season

Every May conference season kicks off with flare. For the last two years I have been attending Mom 2. o summit. It’s always a great start to conference season. After that, a string of social media and digital media conferences pop up across North America. There’s Travel Bloggers Expo (TBEX), which takes place several different locations each year, Blogher and Bloggy Bash, VidCon, Food Bloggers Conference, Blog Podium, Type A Parent, and eventually Blissdom Canada which is usually October. It is possible for bloggers to find themselves racing from one conference to the next, from May to October. Organized bloggers, photographers and digital media professionals need tools that make conference season effective and productive. These are my five essentials for conference season. Five Essentials for Conference Season: 1. Business Cards. My favourite partner for beautiful and professional business cards is Minted. This year I had dozens of Minted business cards from the last batch and I went to Bloggy Bash in New York City and handed out every last one. I didn’t expect that I would go through as many as I did. I easily handed out 200. I came back completely empty and in fact I missed about 15 brands or people towards the end of the conference. Don’t get caught like that. So I returned home and promptly ordered a brand new set and design from Minted. Minted is super fast and they have great service. Plus these cards are gorgeous quality. Business cards aren’t the only thing Minted does, and in fact they have business post cards, Christmas cards, New Year’s cards, personalized art prints and a slew of baby cards. But it’s the business stationery that keeps me coming back. I think Minted has some of the best business cards available on line. Oh, sure, there are some other sites that make cards cheaply, but you get what you pay for and Minted is worth every penny. See the cute little orange sleeveless dress I bought? (collage above) It was about $90 at Laura Petites. I have a handful of stores I like and rely on, and I buy a few key pieces each season. They are always relatively affordable and they are always dressy but neat. Bloggers are often photographed and they need to look professional. Plus a social media conference is all about the networking. Sometimes that’s networking with other bloggers and sometimes it’s connecting with big name brands. I dress to feel good and to help me portray confidence when I am building and selling my site and my consulting services. That doesn’t mean I haven’t made mistakes. I have. Like flying all day in Lululemons and finding myself at a garden party feeling awkward. (Lesson learned.) 3. A power purse or powerful branded laptop bag: I find that I communicate professionalism and confidence more so when I am carrying a serious purse. The first year that I had my consulting business after I had a certain level of income and I had reached several goals for myself personally and professionally I bought I gorgeous Red Coach bag. I felt great carrying it and I still do. Now I buy a new one every year. This year I bought a Kate Spade bag big enough to hold a tablet and some extras if needed. It worked beautifully. 4. An elevator pitch. This is the one or two sentence pitch you have down by heart every time you meet someone new who says – so tell me about your business. Practice it and change it as needed over the years. But make sure it’s short and to the point. You should be able to say it in an elevator between floors. It took me a couple of years to get this down but now I assess the brands and the workshops and other agenda items and I devise a plan before I get there. What is my goal going in? Do I need a new social media consulting business client? Do I need five new brands? Which brands do I need or want to attend to? Am I just there to reconnect with friends and enjoy myself? Am I sightseeing? Am I coming home with a couple of new clients immediately? Do I need to focus hard on the workshops about video? Do I need to find 5 new US bloggers in the a certain age group? Do I need a combination of the above? Have a goal going in and you are far more likely to leave feeling satisfied. What’s your conference secret weapon? Zwipes It’s so close to the first day of school I can almost hear the ringing of the bell from here. Oh wait, maybe that’s the ringing in my ears from the horrific screams of my children wanting to stay home a bit longer. In any case, school is so much sweeter when you start a new grade with the right tools. Lucky for you, I can tell you what they are. Five Back to School Necessities 1. Zwipes: Hello, how perfect is that for my teen? She can customize with accompanying pen and doodle how she wants. This binder is one I have had my eye on for so long. It was a super addition to my daughter’s back to school supplies. She is using it now and getting the cover all blinged up with colourful drawings. I love this one. 2. Backpack from Hilroy Canada (http://www.twitter.com/HilroyCanada) available at Staples stores. Bright Chevron print is super hot this year. Plus it’s fun. I adore the bright colourful, playful pattern print. Ainsley is using this gorgeous Hilroy Canada backpack this year. Good timing for a new backpack because last year’s backpack has been through the ringer. It was well used. She loves the ample space in this backpack and the front pocket is large enough to fit a small tablet or a book. Bright prints available as backpacks, pencil pouch, zipper and case made binder, notebook, pocket and prong portfolio and lunch bag. These cute prints make the Hilroy Canada backpacks school necessities for any tween girl. Also you need to get the adorable matching lunch bags and pencil cases to make the set complete. 3.
