This is One Quirky Multi-Purpose Steamer – Hoover FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 #TMMGG2015

When this arrived I had a visitor pop by the house. Actually I had a couple of visitors pop by and they spied the box for this Hoover FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 and began to tell me more about it than I knew.

“Is this the one that steams dirt off the stove too?”

“And scrubs the shower?”

“And the floors?’

Now I have to admit I hadn’t even heard of Hoover FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 before it arrived but apparently in some circles it already had some buzz happening. So, I pulled it out of the box and assembled it easily this week wondering if all that could be true. How on earth could one small lightweight gadget do that much stuff?

It claimed to be able to scrub the shower, clean the stove (WHAT?) steam clean the carpets and clean the tiles or the grout in the shower while also steaming your hardwood. Can all that really be possible, I wondered? So I gave it a whirl.

Truthfully, I figured it would do an okay job of my hardwood. But there are several gadgets on the market that can do that. I really wanted to see it tackle the carpets and the kitchen. Luckily my stove was a mess, and my microwave too so I started there. The Lift-away steamer lifts out easily and you plug it into the stove or the outlet nearby and wait for it to heat up enough to blast steam at the surface you want to tackle. I tried my microwave and got decent results. It cleaned the microwave well, but did not knock my socks off. So I then tried it on the stove. The difference was noticeable. The Hoover FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 worked well on the stove.

I tried it in the shower too and it worked really well there. I know my microwave was cleaner but it didn’t blast some of the old discolouration off (likely due to the age of the microwave.)

I actually kind of had some fun steam cleaning some parts of the kitchen. I will warn you however, that this gadget hits up so be careful using the Lift Away steamer. It nestles right back in the FloorMate® SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 when you are done with it.

Next up was my carpet. I have a couple of stains on the Berber leading down the stairs. Someone obviously spilled something there even thought they aren’t supposed to carry anything up and down the stairs.

The machine works pretty well with the Carpet Glider attached. I hit it once or twice with my foot on the stairs where the stains are and I had to reattach the Carpet Glider. So you need to be careful about that as it heats up a lot also and you don’t want to burn your fingers reattaching the glider. The steamer cleans your carpets pretty well and it is way lighter than those Rental units you find at grocery stores.

 The Hoover FloorMate SteamScrub 2 in 1 is a pretty cool invention. I’ll keep this around because I like the steaming function for kitchens and for carpets. Did it lift the stains off my carpet perfectly? No. They are still noticeable to me. They faded a bit but the rest of the carpet cleaned really well with the carpet glider and what was even better in my opinion is that it dried within an hour or less. So the steam doesn’t drench your carpet and render the room useless for hours as happens when you use the industrial size units.

I received The Hoover FloorMate SteamScrub™ 2-IN-1 for consideration here. My opinion is all my own. I have seen this listed for around $120. That’s a decent price for this unit.

This would make a good gift for someone who can benefit from a small lightweight cleaning tool. (Think your Mom, a friend, or your Mother-in-law. )
