Wordless Wednesday Winter Wonderland

winter wonderland
Winter was here last week, but it just passed through and was apparently washed away by torrential rains overnight last night.

Winter was here  last week and it was quite beautiful despite the big snowfall. The kids welcomed the snowy weather, as kids do, and they built snowmen and snow serpents and they even tobogganed on the weekend. My morning walks were freezing, but nonetheless gorgeous. All the neighbourhood dogs were out in their snappy little sweaters. I snapped this picture just down the street from us and it reminded me of those old fashioned Currier and Ives pictures my Mom used to love so much. I don’t mind the snow when it creates a pretty sort of landscape that has a winter wonderland feel.

The snow has since been washed away by torrential rains that we had last night. The rain is less appealing to shoot photos of and the winds were so high I arrived home to a basketball net knocked over and obstructing our driveway. It took four girls, my neighbour, myself and my two daughters to move that thing so it didn’t topple onto a car or a house. Heavier than I thought it was. This was the same week husband advised me I think we should move the basketball net for the winter. I had told him: “No way. Leave it where it is because the kids are still using it.” My bad.
