A New Twist on Traditional S’Mores Treats
S’Mores Treats are the ultimate summer indulgence. Perfect for a campfire and equally memorable just for a night at home after a day spent enjoying summer vacation. They are synonymous with camping too, aren’t they? So simple to make and so good after a day spent outdoors hiking, fishing, swimming or relaxing at the beach.
One year I visited Daytona Beach for a media trip and the resort I stayed in with a bunch of other travel writers offered a s’mores kit for every visitor. LOVED that. Traditional S’Mores are so easy to make and great to share with friends and family. These are not your traditional S’Mores treats, but many of these recipes are equally simple to make and share.
S’Mores Pizza? S’Mores waffles? Yes please. These recipes take the chocolatey treats and elevate them into an art form. I am willing to be that S’Mores cheesecake might be the best cheesecake you ever try. There’s even a gluten free S’Mores recipe here for those of you who are gluten free too. Pssttt….one of my favourite gluten free recipes is this Gluten Free Lemon Treats recipe that I make often.
Did you know National S’Mores Treats Day is August 10th? That’s right. Maybe you didn’t even know there was a special day to celebrate these camping treats. The earliest S’Mores treats can be traced back to the 1920s. These easy treats are three simple ingredients. Marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate melted together into a tasty sandwich of sorts. They are thought to have originated with boy scouts and girl guides.
