The Best Fitness Gadget I Found in 2014 and It is Waterproof!
In 2014, as always, I had great intentions to boost my fitness routine and become even stronger. And I did for half the year. Then I swam laps every day in our pool during the months where the weather permitted and I felt great about that. But when September hit somehow school meant that my workload increase also impacted my fitness level. That has to change this year. That will be a goal for me to sustain my routine throughout all of 2015. Despite the rocky exercise routine and the peaks and valleys of fitness and health issues this year, one thing consistently worked well and made me happy. I…

Operation Banish High Blood Pressure
It’s time for fresh starts. December 1st. What could be a better time? I’m not waiting for New Year’s resolutions this year because I need to tackle this new health challenge head on. I have high blood pressure and it’s not going away. It started in September and I assumed it was because I was hyper about taking a trip with World Vision Canada and I assumed that the high reading was a one off. But in October it was high again and then this past weekend when we went for flu shots it was astronomical. So it’s time to kick it to the curb. First here’s a bit about…

Falling off the Fitness Bandwagon – An Update
shutterstock images Right now I am beating myself up. Why? Because I’ve had a lazy summer in terms of fitness routines. I am, in fact, pretty mad at the blogger butt I have developed over the summer. Or should I say pissed at self for allowing blogger butt to creep in, or out, if I want to be accurate about it. So what happened? Work has been plentiful. The summer has been filled with great travel opportunities and I have a few brand new clients that have the adrenaline flowing here already. I started the summer strong. Remember this? I Ran 1.5 K. I had goals. But that didn’t last. We had…

My Fitness and Wellness Journey Update
My Fitness and Wellness Journey Update is as much a progress check for me as it is for my readers too. So stick with me and I promise we can do this together. Okay? Here we are three weeks into my newly revamped fitness routine for 2014 and I thought it was time for an update. A progress check. My Fitness and Wellness Journey After 35!! First a bit of background. I have been working hard on getting fit since Ainsley was very small. I have always been sports averse. As in, I was the kid in grade school who hated gym. It brought down my average in high school…

Energy Bits Review
Several weeks ago I heard about these energybits on twitter and was interested. I am forever trying to stay on top of this thing called 40, and those of you who know me well know I may not be super coordinated, but I make up for that in ambition and good intentions. So I exercise a lot and I am open to trying new routines, exercise programs and nutrition ideas. So I gave these algae bits a shot to see what they might add to my routine. Let me just start with a small disclaimer: energybits will probably not be for everyone and I am not a doctor or medical…

Activity Tax Credits, Mommies and What About Seniors too?
I am all for activity tax credits and fitness tax credits and anything that keeps kids active and fit and healthy. I can back that any day and, in fact, I would. I spend well over the $500 a year allowed by the federal fitness tax credit each year – $1,000 for a disabled child. I have some extremely active children and they need a lot of martial arts/ basketball/ swimming/ skating/ music/ drama etc. I claim every year the maximum I can and I tell every new parent I know to take advantage of the federal credit. It makes sense. A mere $500 per family to potentially improve the…
