Do the Brews Cruise – Three Creative Durham Region Breweries

    August 25, 2020 / No Comments

In early 2020, I visited Durham Region as a guest. We stayed at The Hive and did the Durham Region Brews Cruise, sampling beers at three stellar Durham Region Breweries. This is all about that stay. Reminder – please drink responsibly. I am not the world’s biggest beer connoisseur by any stretch. In fact, pretty sure my shoulders will never support that title. But, I know what I like and I love adventuresome and creative breweries. Beers that make use of fruit, coffee, earthy flavours of nuts, rich kicks of coffee and sweet notes of peanut butter, rock my tastebuds. So, when I found out there was a brews cruise…

    Small Ship Cruising Benefits

    February 20, 2018 /

Small ship cruising is something that often doesn’t even make the radar when people plan their high seas adventures. With so many commercials featuring the massive amusement park ships, some people might not even KNOW that smaller ships exist, or they might not think of them at all. This is especially true of people who have never been on a cruise before. And while the huge ships can be a ton of fun, there are some major benefits to small ship cruising, as well. Small Ship Cruising can Sometimes be a Better Fit While cruising on a smaller ship may not be on your radar, there are times when it…

Mountain Getaways with Style and Glamping Hub

    February 7, 2018 /

Mountain getaways are so romantic to me. There’s something about the idea of spending time away in a mountain retreat that I find so appealing. Wood walls. fireplaces, the wilderness surrounding the cabin – it’s so beautiful and heartwarming and peaceful. That being said, I want to enjoy those mountain getaways in style. I love cabins, but I’m not looking for something TOO rustic. Right now, with Valentine’s Day coming up fast I have been browsing all the great ideas for getaways on Glamping Hub. Glamping Hub offers mountain getaways that make excellent Valentine’s Day ideas.  Mountain Getaways Don’t Have to Mean Roughing It My idea of roughing it is…

The village at the base of Mont-Tremblant is awake in a riot of Blues, Purples and Golds. Spotlights, instruments, televisions, bleachers decorate the pedestrian village. Here the sights and sounds of the International Blues Festival wake you up and lull you to sleep in the middle of the month of July at gorgeous Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. On the 24th ever occasion of the Festival International Du Blues De Tremblant I am visiting with a group of travel writers. Tallahassee Florida is the seat of the state’s democracy and home to two well known universities – Florida State University, and Florida A&M University. Although known for its collegiate football, Tallahassee Florida is also the trade and agricultural center of the Big Bend region. If you’re planning a trip to Florida, Tallahassee has a few must see destinations. They might not be as recognizable as their college football teams, but are no less exciting. Tallahassee Florida – More than College Football Tallahassee Florida might be known mainly for The Gators, but there is so much more to see here than just stadiums and the gridiron. Livingstone – The History of the Gem of Zambia #TTOT #travel

    December 27, 2016 /

Livingstone, Zambia is known as the Gem of Africa, with good reason. This October I visited Zambia and saw this gorgeous city up close. We stayed 3 nights in Livingstone, a stunning city with strong history. This historic city in Zambia has its own rich story worth discovering. And, it is also friendly, welcoming, and one of the most beautiful cities you could wish to see. The History of The Gem of Zambia In the 1890’s, the British took control of the northern area of the region via Cecil Rhodes’ British South Africa Company. The focus of their activity was mineral prospecting, and securing other natural resources such as timber, ivory, and…

    5 Benefits of Multi-Generational Travel #travel

    April 12, 2016 /

Listen to me closely. If you are in your 30s and 40s and thinking why on earth would I want to take my children’s grandparents along on a trip with us, there are a few things you need to know about multi-generational travel. Both sets of our parents have passed away and I wish more than anything that we had had the time and money to include them on our big annual trips together to see the world. My husband and I both always managed to go to the cottage together with our respective families and that was one sort of multi-generational travel experience that will stick with us forever.…

11 Things You Did Not Know About Alligators – The Things You Learn When You Travel

    March 11, 2016 /

Not so long ago I had the chance to visit The Florida Everglades. I was there for a travel writer tour and conference. After the tour we watched a show inspired by The Gator Boys, one of my kids’s favourite TV shows. Now everybody knows that Florida and alligators just simply go together, but sometimes when you travel you learn the strangest things. I mean did you know that alligator bites are more powerful than the bite of a great white shark? Yikes! These are 11 Alligator Facts I did not know until I took an airboat tour of the Florida Everglades. 11 Alligator Facts Let’s just say it’s better off…
