Vermont skiing is our happy place. As you can probably tell from the many posts I’ve done on the subject, we are a family of skiers. My entire family came to this game late. I only learned how to ski in my 40s!! But ever since that first season when we strapped ski boots on and took lessons at Mont Tremblant, we were hooked. We love to get out on the slopes for the day and then return to a cozy, warm room to relax and unwind. We’ve skied in several places but one of our favorite places to ski…

Youth programs are an important consideration when planning a cruise if you have tweens and teens. Around this age, kids start to want a little more freedom, and a good tween and teen program can allow the kids to have a great time while experiencing a little freedom and independence in a safe, controlled way. My daughters are at an age where youth programs are a huge factor in our cruise planning, and I thought I’d share my top three picks for great programs for tweens and teens. Youth Programs Give Kids AND Parents What They Want The thing that…

Port essentials are just what they say – essential. Without them, your time exploring any port could be a challenge. Disembarking the ship is fun and a great chance to explore a new island or city. But, if you forget these items when returning to the ship you could ruin that dream cruise. Some of these port essentials are for convenience, some are for a better overall experience, and some… Well, without a couple of these you won’t even get back on the ship! So let’s talk about the essentials that you absolutely cannot disembark without when you cruise. Port…

Until recently I knew nothing about Dale Chihuly or the Chihuly collection. Now I can’t imagine how I almost missed experiencing this stunning blown glass artwork. The Dale Chihuly Collection will forever bring up memories of light and colour, movement and possibility for me. I’ve heard of Chihuly’s work from friends who have seen his traveling exhibits at galleries around the world. I’d never had the chance to see it in person, though, until I went down to St. Pete last October. While my girlfriends and I were on our getaway, we went to see the Chihuly collection on permanent…

Mountain getaways are so romantic to me. There’s something about the idea of spending time away in a mountain retreat that I find so appealing. Wood walls. fireplaces, the wilderness surrounding the cabin – it’s so beautiful and heartwarming and peaceful. That being said, I want to enjoy those mountain getaways in style. I love cabins, but I’m not looking for something TOO rustic. Right now, with Valentine’s Day coming up fast I have been browsing all the great ideas for getaways on Glamping Hub. Glamping Hub offers mountain getaways that make excellent Valentine’s Day ideas. Mountain Getaways Don’t Have…

Have you ever wondered whether you should book a cruise while onboard your current cruise? Me too. We’ve done several cruises and I am always amazed by the number of people lining up to book again before leaving the ship. So I thought I would investigate. Does it help you save money? If you’re a frequent cruiser, chances are you’re already planning another cruise anyway. So why not use one of the lesser known tricks of the cruising trade and book a cruise while on your current cruise? Saving money, better selection and rewards – those are a few reasons…

This week I am in Florida again. Just passing through on our way to a cruise. But I am always thrilled to visit Florida, even when it’s a short stay, or a conference. Florida is a dependable travel destination. And there’s always something new and exciting to discover. This year, I thought I’d ask several of my favourite Canadian travel bloggers what their picks are for Top Florida Hotspots in 2018. As a tourist destination, despite the ups and downs of the Canadian dollar, and the political climate, Florida is still a tourist mecca with much to offer. It’s still…

I had so many amazing Dublin experiences recently when visiting the city in the Fall. Dublin is a creative, amazing city that recently earned National Geographic’s Best of the World distinction and it’s easy to see why. If you have not been yet I strongly suggest finding a way to visit. It’s more than worth the time and energy to get there. Stop and savour the Dublin food scene. So many Irish Showstoppers that are memorable and truly well done. Stroll the city by foot, and take a tour while you are there too. Consider this Game of Thrones and…

I don’t think it’s possible to be disappointed when you visit Chicago. One of the largest cities in the US., Chicago is rich in culture, cuisine, music, and shopping too! Whether that’s a romantic weekend adventure or a fun family getaway, there are many Chicago attractions that make it a worthy travel destination for your next trip. While I adore Chicago I know many travel bloggers have been more frequently than I have. And several call Chicago home, so I thought I’d ask the experts to share their thoughts and picks for Chicago attractions you cannot miss! The Insider’s Guide to…

This year Gatineau in the Outaouais Region of Quebec has some remarkable reasons to visit. MosaiCanada 150 and the brand new Canadian History Hall exhibit in the Museum of Canadian History were the most powerfully charged of all the experiences I had this summer travel season. If you are Canadian, you need to see this. It’s hard not to be moved seeing Canada’s history on display. MosaiCanada 150 and the new exhibit together are powerful narratives about Canada’s story. Gatineau Becomes a Riot of Colour Summer is short in Canada and this year it vanished quickly, with the strange cool…
