I missed Thanksgiving this year. Oh, don’t feel bad for me. I missed out on a big delicious turkey dinner because I left for a fellowship in Zambia the Friday before Thanksgiving. While you were eating turkey I was spotting zebras and elephants and visiting clinics to talk about health care policy in Africa. When I returned to Canada, I heard SUBWAY® had a Carved Turkey Sandwich out and I figured I might get a little turkey time after all.

This past weekend was show week here. My kids are ridiculously busy girls. My younger daughter was performing all weekend in The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet. I enjoy seeing them grow while doing the sports, or arts activities they love. And yet, sometimes it means life is nuts and in the middle of show week, even though I rely on my crockpot an awful lot, there are times we just need to get something quick to eat between performances. So, we found ourselves at SUBWAY on Saturday.

The running joke at my house is that SUBWAY is the only thing my kids ever ask for…well occasionally they will say pizza too, but when we travel, it’s SUBWAY, SUBWAY, SUBWAY. (We jokingly say it three times every time we see the sign because one of my daughters did that all summer long when we travelled. The signs on the Highway say SUBWAY SUBWAY SUBWAY.) My kids are like a broken record at times. So, when I asked this weekend: “Where do you want to go for dinner?” I should have known the response. I never mind a stop at SUBWAY. There are so many delicious and nutritious options, and there’s always a new sub sandwich every time we go.

I have been salivating over SUBWAY’s Carved Turkey Sandwich for a couple of weeks. So I ordered one for myself.,to get my turkey fix in. Honestly, I am not sure words can do it justice. It’s that good. The cranberry mustard sauce is the icing on the cake. SO flavourful. The Carved Turkey sandwich, made with 100% Canadian turkey and topped with an all new cranberry mustard sauce, is now available nationwide at participating locations, for a limited time.

This year for National Sandwich Day, Thursday November 3rd, SUBWAY is also giving back to communities around Canada. SUBWAY is partnering with Food Banks Canada and will donate the equivalent of a meal to Food Banks Canada for any sandwich and drink purchase on National Sandwich Day. And as if that’s not enough, SUBWAY will also give customers another free sandwich of equal or lesser value to share with a friend – so you can do good and eat well on National Sandwich Day.
