My 6 Favourite Podcasts for the Morning Commute
So, it’s been awhile since I shared a little about what I am up to these days. Six months ago I took a position as social lead at a marketing agency in Cambridge, just outside Toronto. I lead a team of talented social media professionals and I enjoy that. It’s a hybrid job which is the way of the post-pandemic world. Two days a week I drive to Cambridge, about an hour and ten minutes from my house in London, so I have time in the van and have discovered podcasts. These are 6 of my favourite podcasts to listen to in the van on the way to work. They…

Christmas Chatterbox Activity
Remember that childhood game we used to call chatterbox? Well, once upon a time I remember when it was called something a bit different but I like the idea of a Christmas chatterbox and no matter the origin of the concept, it simply is nostalgic for me every time. This was the school playground girl’s activity at recess so many days. If we weren’t skating, playing tag or indoors helping the teacher, then we were on the yard doing this and deciding which flap to pick, waiting for it to reveal some silly truth or character. Pumpkin Investigation Science Activity
The best science activities in my personal opinion are the ones where kids don’t even realize they are learning about science. As a lot of you know I have always had one child here who is a reluctant science student. My oldest is all hands on science and social science and always has been. My youngest however finds it abstract somehow and never really enjoyed the topic. So, hiding some science activities under the guise of play always made the most sense for them. On Goal Setting and Making Magic Happen
As a writer and a business person I have always been invested in goal setting as a means of keeping myself accountable and moving forward. For me, this works. The year that I levelled up my freelance writing and carved out more time for pitches and bylines, I made good on those goals. Here’s how. Over the course of a career I have at times been employed on staff at magazines and newspapers. As a staff writer sometimes, the goals were obvious: get the gig as a columnist. (Which I did for a bit as a business writing columnist.) Or get the job as a beat reporter on the court…
