Last Minute Club and Saving Money While Seeing the World

So maybe you are looking to travel this year, really keen to get away from all of this dreadful snow we are having. But the budget is tight and the economy still doesn’t feel that great. Well, I have a couple of thoughts on that. There are a few ways to save money while seeing the world and one of those is http://www.lastminuteclub.com/ Last year for the first year ever I signed up for Last Minute Club. The club is a travel clearinghouse of sorts. You may have seen those old newspaper ads for Last Minute Club in the Toronto newspapers.…

Follow Friday and Find a Friend

How this works…so if you are a blogger, or a wannabe and you like discovering new friends on Fridays, you can visit these blog hops and make a few new pals. I like also Java’s blog (click on the t-shirt off to the side and visit Never Growing Old). You typically follow the first two or three blogs on the list and then choose as many as you wish. You can follow everyone or just a few. Then leave the blogger a comment and your address or http: so they can come and follow you back. Just a piece of…

    EQAO Testing Scandal: Fallout

Tonight we lost a very good principal. One who helped shape and define the culture of our french immersion school. At issue were some test results. I have been on my daughter’s school council for a few years now, at Team Hiboux, a school under the umbrella of the Thames Valley District School Board. Several months ago our school EQAO test results were called into question. Tonight, I sat in a room and listened to the talking heads from the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) say that “the rules are very clear” and “all responsibility lies with the administrator.” Some…

    Snapware: A Review and Giveaway

I’m a wee bit embarrassed to tell you how excited I was when this package arrived from Snapware just before Christmas. I joined the Snapware family at Christmas after I spied a review on line. I fell head over heels for the cupcake caddy and then I saw the egg-tainer and well, the deal was sealed. Snapware sent me an egg-tainer and a two-layer sandwich container to review. Oh and I have a treat for one lucky reader too, so follow instructions at the end. This is the egg-tainer snap and stack from Snapware and it holds upto 24 eggs perfectly, without them…

My Many Kickass Lessons in Blogging 2010

I believe it’s important to take stock every so often and reflect on what worked and what didn’t work in business. Same is true for blogging. Blogging is a business and it grows every year and changes too so it’s vital to stay on top of some trends, while avoiding roadblocks when you can. Here’s what I learned from blogging this year. Well this is my second year blogging and a much more successful one than the first. I attribute much of that to treating the blog as a business this year. Many of the lessons I learned in 2010…

    Savvy Saving at Christmas

Well, I realize this one is late, but better late than never as I say. I once had a colleague who worked every year at Christmas. She was young and had no children herself and she enjoyed making the extra couple of dollars that working that day afforded. So, when her extended family gathered together in Kitchener, it was after Boxing Day. She smartly did all of her shopping on Boxing Day and saved a lot of money that way. If that is not an option for you and you still struggle to meet your budget, there are some other…
