Butter tarts are delicious. They’re a national treasure. I could eat them all day. Seriously. I mean who couldn’t? Think about these little delicious Heavenly tarts. Butter tarts are amazing little snack sized tarts filled with a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and sometimes walnuts or raisins. They are simply perfection. Butter tarts are a little bowl of Heaven that is, in my opinion, the best recipe to ever come out of a Canadian kitchen. Easy Frosted Brownies and Family Game Night #BornOnTheFarm

    October 21, 2017 / 7 Comments

Fun, Family and Food. What could be better than that? Family game night is something that can really bring a family together. It’s a time when everyone is encouraged to engage in family bonding time with a little friendly, familial competition. That’s why Hasbro’s Pie Face game was a hilarious addition to our games and puzzles collection. Add food to the family and the fun and you have a recipe for a great night. Sautéed Asparagus and Scalloped Potatoes – Simple Side Dishes Are Better With Butter #BornOnTheFarm

    April 7, 2017 / 15 Comments

Sometimes I feel like butter is a dairy staple we take for granted. Butter makes sauces creamier, baked goods taste richer and it can elevate a recipe. But it never really takes centre stage. Just like side dishes. But Gay Lea butter can make almost anything better. It can improve a simple fresh vegetable like sautéed asparagus or add a twist to a new variation on traditional scalloped potatoes. This week was a brutally busy one with both girls in a martial arts tournament working as score-keepers and competing too. and it seemed like meals – good fresh home cooked meals were getting neglected for days. In the spring I…

Best Butter Tarts on the Planet

    April 26, 2012 / 11 Comments

Butter tarts are one of my all time favourite treats. We have made these together many times here and every single batch of these quintessentially Canadian treats is an opportunity to experiment. There are so many variations that you can make when it comes to butter tarts. In fact we like our yummy Canadian desserts simple so the flavour shines through with every bite. We’ve dubbed these the best butter tarts on the planet and even writing about them makes me want to go grab the butter and sugar and start baking. Do not scrimp on the filling whatever you do. You can add walnuts or raisins or pecans, but…
