I have been baking for much of my life. As a child I loved to help bake with my Mom and my Grandma too. And, as a teenager I really enjoyed crafting and sewing, reading and cooking up something random. Betty Crocker’s cookbook and I were well acquainted. In fact, I still make a scrumptious jelly roll. Oddly though, I can’t recall ever having made shortbread cookies. Not once, until now. I recall having this perception that shortbread was hard to make, so we didn’t make it. This year is all about new traditions. We moved to a new house…

Pokemon Gifts Roundup I have two girls who love this little guy named Pikachu. In my house the gender specific toys don’t really ever fly. My kids make up their own rules of play and they both love Pokemon. Oh they still love Barbie and Monster High, but they know what they like and they won’t be told by anyone what is cool, or girly. My junior black belt ten year old daughter has been collecting Pokemon cards for the last year or more. She has more than I can count and her interest shows no real indication of tapering…

I am not unlike you. I love my kids more than anything on the planet. They are my heart. They are my life. They are my first glorious sight in the morning. (One of them bursts into my room every day at crack of dawn, but that’s another story) and one of the last things I see at night. There is nothing that can bring out the mama bear in me like someone wronging my child. My family is not perfect, but it is mine. Everything I do is to build a future for them. Most of you know by now that…

This little guy is a Japanese cartoon character that my kids are crazy for. He’s also someone decorating most of my nephew’s toys from Japan. I think that he is quirky, but my opinion doesn’t really matter on this one. Anyways, today I am offering a free colouring page printable because apparently people like them. So here you go. Right click and save and then print it out and let the kids colour. Have fun! I have some free printables and colouring sheets offered each week here right now.

Winter was here last week and it was quite beautiful despite the big snowfall. The kids welcomed the snowy weather, as kids do, and they built snowmen and snow serpents and they even tobogganed on the weekend. My morning walks were freezing, but nonetheless gorgeous. All the neighbourhood dogs were out in their snappy little sweaters. I snapped this picture just down the street from us and it reminded me of those old fashioned Currier and Ives pictures my Mom used to love so much. I don’t mind the snow when it creates a pretty sort of landscape that has…

Star Wars Clone Wars The Lost Missions DVD is a Disney new release all young Star Wars fans will love. This Clone Wars The Lost Missions DVD holds two DVDs and hours of entertainment. The cartoon series was a cult favourite and this marks the winding down of that series. My daughter has been asking a lot about Star Wars and she reads Star Wars books whenever she can, so I thought this would be of interest to her. I was right. We watched together and she was so enthralled she almost skipped dinner that first night. Unravelling all of…

This is a house favourite for hair. I received a Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron this past month for consideration. I tested it out this past week with my daughters and I love it. Please note my kids are 10 and 13. I supervise their use of hair gadgets, especially those that could catch fire or damage something if not used with caution. I think the Voloom makes a brilliant Christmas gift for the teenage girl on your list, or for any women you have to buy presents for this year. The Voloom hair volumizing iron is something that worked on my one…

What could be more fun than a family show filled with Disney characters right at the start of the new year? This January 4th Disney characters Mickey and Minnie visit Budweiser Gardens to share their musical extravaganza with Londoners of all ages in Disney Live Mickey Music Festival. Disney puts on a show that is always magical and fund and entertaining. This particular show. Disney Live Mickey’s Music Festival tends to be slightly younger in age range and less intimidating in size than the larger than life Disney on Ice spectacular. Disney Live is just right for the preschool set. Mickey…

By now you know that gifts from the World Vision gift catalogue 2014 matter. They matter to children like these girls who are able to attend school in Colombia thanks to sponsorship and often thanks to donations from the gift catalogue. They matter to the boys in this picture playing soccer and building a healthy outlook for life in an area where drugs, gangs and poverty are very real threats to children. They matter to children you might never meet all over the world in so many countries that need help. Tonight on twitter, we are talking about the impact…

I am thrilled to be a Disney On Ice Insider again this year. I love Disney on Ice and I have written about that experience often. This Disney post is from way back in 2011. Disney on Ice is always fun for the entire family. This year Disney on Ice returns to Budweiser Gardens in London. I look forward to giving some tickets away here on my blog soon. In the mean time here is a free Disney Mickey Mouse Ears printable for your children to make and play with. Enjoy! And keep reading so you don’t miss the chance…
