Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages toys have earned the first spot in my 2014 Christmas Gift Guide. Fisher-Price is a brand I love. It stands the test of time and continues to innovate. Fisher-Price has been a part of my life from the time I was a child, and as my kids have grown, it has been a constant household name. I love that Fisher-Price Little People toys are creative and special. This year the Laugh & Learn Smart Stages toys are my choice of best toys for toddlers 2014. Several weeks ago I announced my Gifts with Heart gift guide here on Thrifty Momma’s Tips. That Christmas gift guide 2014 is meant exclusively this year for gifts that give back to the world, or the community. Right now that means that it is dominated by World Vision Canada gifts. A gift from the catalogue there gives back to children and families living in poverty around the world. I have launched that guide and asked all my personal friends and family members to buy things such as artisan gifts from the World Vision gift catalogue. Many of my friends have informed…

The shopping experience can turn a loyal shopper off if the return policy is hard to negotiate Almost every customer has returned a purchased product for a store credit, exchange or refund at least once in their lifetime. The experience is often remarkably routine. However, sometimes returns do not transpire the way they should. Let’s face it we all have a return story that made us feel undervalued as a customer. An experience shopping at even a beloved regular store can make you reconsider where you spend your money if the chain ends up having not so customer friendly return…

Well Halloween has come and gone, but I wanted to share our photos from this year’s event to prolong the fun a bit. As you can see we had a great time with costumes this year. Payton and I found the concept for this DIY Halloween Bubble Gum Machine costume on Pinterest and we duplicated it, with a few modifications for a young girl. I don’t let my kids wear costumes that are inappropriate for their ages. On Pinterest this Halloween DIY Bubble Gum Machine was shown with a mini-skirt. I prefer the pants and I think Payton did a…

When you are struggling with infertility sometimes it seems like you have nothing to do but wait. It’s pretty easy to begin to feel powerless inside the emotional roller coaster of the infertility health care journey. First, you realize you have no real control over your body when it won’t do what you want it to. You may feel like you have no control over doctors, nurses, or test results. Even your life plan is turned on its head when your body won’t conceive. You hoped to have a child by 30. You hoped then for 32, then 34, 35, by…

At first glance this field seems pretty unremarkable. But first glances can be deceiving. This is a field built with love, sweat, volunteer hours and some financial investment from Canadian donations. This is another tangible space made real and safe for children, because of the help of World Vision Canada. This is a field of dreams where we are about to learn the importance of uniforms in sports in Colombia, and the need for children to have a field of their own. We have driven to a field outside Santander De Quilichao near Taminango. This is an area that is…

Happy Halloween to all the ghosts and goblins out there! Wondering what the cool costume will be this year? Me too. I think there will again be many Marios. At our house we have one costume we are making tonight and one that was bought ready made. I knew youngest daughter really had her heart set on being a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle named Raph. That’s her favourite TMNT character, so we are almost ready to go. We still have to buy more candy though. How about you? Are you ready for Halloween?
