The time of year couldn’t be more perfect for a Monster High party! Halloween, plus quirky dolls and cooler climate means more time spent playing indoors creatively. This weekend we finally had time to invite some neighbors and friends over for the night to party Monster High style. It was worth the wait and the kids had a blast viewing the latest Monster High Freaky Fusion movie release. Monster High has been a great conversation starter here in our new neighbourhood. We moved in February and happily found a lot of kids the same age as my daughters in…

Let’s be honest. I’m not getting any younger. Nor is my darling husband. We strive to work out often. We try to be fit. But life happens and you get busy. You put things on hold. You work harder because it’s a busy season or there are a lot of contracts happening and so the gym falls by the wayside. Then one day you decide to head back there and you hit the treadmill hard and you do that very same workout you were doing just last month and suddenly the next day you feel like you need traction. You…

This post about my latest Blossom Conference experience has taken me forever to wrangle. It’s been hiding in some nook or cranny of my brain and just sort of waiting for me to get it straight. I thought about leaving it there. But my brain gets full and every now and then it needs a purge. So this is my Blissdom Conference experience purge. Wait, that just sounded wrong. I am a Blissdom Conference veteran. ( Because I am old and I have been writing for a million years. LOL) Two weeks ago I took part in my third Blissdom…

This is the chair that awaits guests in my office. It was discovered by my good friend Margarita Ibbott, who has an eye for these things. I think I need her back here again to help redo some of the other rooms in this house actually. She is a fellow blogger and a professional organizer, but she has a lot of style and an eye for colours too. So, when it is time to get some new furniture for the living room I am likely to call on her for her input and even if I don’t, she is likely…

It’s time for Canadian Thanksgiving. Yippee! Now pass the gravy. We have so much to be thankful for this year. In fact, if you live in Canada, I am pretty sure you all need to be thankful for the gift of geography and how blessed we each are to be living in a country so rich with resources. After my recent trip with World Vision Canada, I can tell you my perspective on gratitude and life in general has changed dramatically. Canadian Thanksgiving is a great time to share your home, your heart and a beautiful meal together. But before…

Shutterstock photo by Leah-Anne Thompson It’s been a while since I’ve used this space for a good rant. So it’s time. Now listen here. I am thinking about starting a Kickstarter campaign to fund my great new idea. I think it will be something epic. But right now it’s just a little vague. To be quite honest, it’s really just a concept. But it’s a great concept. See, it’s a concept I have for a brush that will automatically clean itself. Cool right? Because, who couldn’t use one of those? I mean have you seen my daughter’s hair? I…

The Lifesaver III arrived here just in time for Blissdom Canada so I charged it up and packed it in my laptop bag and got ready to attend Canada’s most important social media conference. Now, as every iPhone user knows, Apple gadgets often run low on battery. They may be workhorses, but battery life isn’t ideal. My iPhone battery runs down fast when I spend the day tweeting, posting, sharing, liking and seeking out Google Maps directions to find the nearest restaurants. At Blogher in the summer I forgot my free no name charger that came courtesy of some event…

The amazing team of workers we spent the last day with when in Bucaramanga, Colombia. I was there with World Vision Canada to document the work that volunteers do and to share stories of child sponsorship and the impact that makes. What an honour, truly. The Trip It was a trip that puts the world in perspective in many ways and helped me to see advocacy at work on a global perspective for children. I am sharing my journey to Colombia with World Vision Canada here on the blog in a series. You can read Part 1: The Briefing…
