My savvy friend got me thinking the other day about doing some more sewing projects with my kids. Sara is a heavy duty sewing expert. Well, in my opinion, she is. She sews a lot of cute clothing and makes quilts. My oldest daughter has been asking for months to get her hands on Grandma’s sewing machine, my new toy, and it seems this might be the right timing for her. So with that in mind, we hit Fabricland for a splurge and Youtube for a tutorial. And, over the next few months we will bring you a few of…

Have your children ever read the book Have You Filled A Bucket? by Carol McCloud and David Messing Mine have read it a lot over the last year. You know that thing where you read a book repeatedly and are never really sure if your child is internalizing the message. Yeah that. It’s easy to wonder if your words fall on deaf ears sometimes. Well apparently mine are listening. That makes me 9,000 shades of proud. See, this is our neighborhood, today. It was and, still is, a crazed windy gale force kind of epic weather day. Naturally it was…

I love me some fun cookbooks. And I tend to gravitate lately towards those people who embrace their funny. Hear that @chickymara and @Housetalkn? So this cookbook, The Looneyspoons Collection, fits the bill for me. Because if I am going to cook, I might as well have fun at the same time. I am all kinds of multi-tasking spectacular that way. So first things first, Janet and Greta Podleski are the two FAB sisters I first heard about many many years ago when I was living in Kitchener and they hit the big time with, a teeny bit of help…

Hey there lovely readers. Recently my darling niece had a first birthday party and she happened to visit her favorite aunt for the occasion. So we used it as a great time to try out one of the amazing kid friendly birthday cake recipes I found on Pinterest. Rainbow Birthday Cake. It is super easy and fun. This is the link to the pin of the original that gave me the idea. It didn’t look exactly as in the pin, but here you go. http://pinterest.com/inkscrblr/cooking-with-children-linky/# So take your basic cake mix and mix it up. I used Betty Crocker, then divide…

Remember this? A few short weeks ago, I ran a post about Priya Means Love, a giveaway of sinus balm and a background on Priya’s amazing mostly organic products. I still adore her and her site on Etsy. I chose the lucky winner some time ago. But, lovely Priya was so pleased with the post that she contacted me about giving everyone of my readers a substantial discount at her store. Priya lives in Toronto and handcrafts her products in The Annex. So right now if you buy any one of her products you can save 20 % off purchase…

For the first year ever I am taking part in Janice and Susan’s Ultimate Blog Party 2012. If you haven’t heard of Janice and Susan, founders and publishers over at Five Minutes For Mom, well I will just assume that you are new to the blogging world. Five Minutes For Mom is one of those on line destinations where all the cool Moms hang out. This year the dynamic team has gathered over $21,000 in prizes to be given away on line this week. Say What? No, that is not a typo. I couldn’t believe it myself. Anyways, there are numerous…

Does your child worry? Chances are good, if they are preschoolers on up, there are times their little minds won’t turn off the busy actions of the day. Or times their thoughts are racing. Sensitive children, gifted children, children with special needs, perfectionists, or simply children who spend a lot of time thinking. All children at one time or another handle worry, or anxiety. That’s just part of life. These days, worry and anxiety seems to be more prevalent among children than ever before. Healthy adults handle worries and anxieties every day. But most healthy adults have a toolkit of…
