Buying Tires – What do You Need to Know?
Buying tires involves more than just going out and picking the first thing you see. It’s actually quite involved as I found out recently. From getting the right size to picking the tread to finding a good price, buying tires requires some forethought to make sure you get the right tires for your vehicle, your area of the world, and your driving conditions. Bald Tires are Not Safe My tires have been bald for quite some time. Last Christmas, right before we left for Miami and a winter cruise, the regular service person I deal with warned me I needed new tires. Where to Start? Frankly, I had no real idea…

5 Reasons For Travelling in June and July #travel
It seems a little bit kooky to want to travel in June or July, especially to a resort, and most especially if you are a Canadian. I mean, aren’t we supposed to simply stay put for the short summer season and then flee the snow, icy roads and mayhem somewhere just before or after Christmas? Didn’t we invent the term snowbirds? Maybe so, but I have travelled a few times now off season to resorts in June, July and even August, and the results have been surprising. Travelling in June and July can be worth it for many reasons. [tweetthis]Sometimes resort travel can be cheaper in June and July. #travel[/tweetthis] 1.…

Beach and Pool Checklist Printable
Heading to the beach this summer? Then you need this Beach and Pool Checklist printable. Stay organized and make the best of your beach time. That’s important when your sunny days are limited. Victoria Day weekend has passed in Canada and Memorial Day in the US just passed and I am giddy! Giddy I tell you. Winter was a fickle season and it basically aged me about ten years so I am looking forward to summer stripping away about 15 years. That’s how it works, right? Right? Of course it does. Give me something to hang onto here would you? Anyways, as you might recall I am a beach-loving pool…

What is a TimeShare? Know the Pros and Cons of Investing #travel
What is a Timeshare? Know the Pros and Cons of Investing A couple of weeks ago, I discussed the question, “What is a timeshare?” This time around let’s look at the pros and cons of investing in one of these properties. From time to time I hear people crowing loudly about how awesome their timeshare property is. Lately I have wondered myself whether a timeshare is a good investment for us. We love to travel, so why not? That’s what led me to start this series. The results of this miniseries and this “What is a Timeshare” instalment may be quite different than you expect! What is a Timeshare? What are the…

Dog Sledding Near Mont Tremblant
Dog Sledding Near Mont Tremblant on a wintery March day can bring out the child in anyone. Snug as a bug in a rug. We are racing through the snowy upper Laurentians in Quebec, about 45 minutes from Mont Tremblant resort. It is peaceful and calm and the mountains are majestic as the snow continues to fall. Three of us are on this one dog sled lurching out of the starting gate and my older daughter rides safely behind us with a driver of her own. Content. This is the definition of contentment and peace and it makes you almost forget how bitterly brutal the winter has been, because inside…

It’s Time to RSVP For The #ParkbridgeLife Twitter Party April 15 at 8 p.m. EST #travel
It was a rainy afternoon in August and our second day at Parkbridge Resorts, Lakes of Wasaga. We were there for three nights as guests. The kids had a friend with them and I was wrestling with the urge to tell them all to get off their Nintendos when I heard my youngest daughter holler: “There’s something over there by the lake.” All three children threw their sandals on and they ambled towards the lake. That weekend we had already spied dozens of groundhogs, we’d been swimming multiple times, made our own fishing poles of twine and branches, spied many fish, played some board games, been mini golfing and picked…

A Doorway in Yelapa #TravelTuesday #Linky
Travel is a doorway in Yelapa. What do I mean by that exactly? Well, travel itself is a doorway to another world, another culture, a geography, a lifestyle. It is bright. It is full of potential. It is a bit surprising. It can be confining, liberating, original, scary or safe. Like a doorway in Yelapa. Travel is my favourite pastime out of all the possible diversions in life. Travel plus writing, well it doesn’t get better than that. I am a strong believer in family travel and my kids travel with me as often as we are able. We are a team. They are great little travellers and of course…

Can Your Family Learn to Ski in Two Days?
If you had told me even one month ago that I’d be learning to ski in the Upper Laurentians of Quebec, on Mont Tremblant, in my mid-40s I think I would have told you to stop drinking. I am a yoga girl, body flow, centergy, weights, planks – I am good at all of those. Swimming, I endure as a means of fitness, and because pools are mostly warm. But, skiing? Well, the thought never crossed my mind until last weekend when the opportunity presented itself and then I thought why doesn’t the entire family learn to ski together? Last weekend we flew to Mont Tremblant, Quebec with Porter Airlines…

Cute Affordable Glasses OnLine at Glasses Shop
I can’t seem to stock enough sunglasses around here. First of all this is a house largely full of girls. Second of all, this is a house where apparently all the girls think what’s mine is also theirs and so on. If you live with tweens or teens, you probably know what I mean. Anyways, these cute fashionable and affordable sunglasses arrived a few days ago from GlassesShop.com and so I am happily restocked with sunglasses again. I’ m reasonably certain I can keep these ones safe until summer, but that said I might need to lock them away until the sun appears again. GlassesShop.com has several lines of…
