Deep Cleaning Carpets Quickly and Easily

Deep cleaning carpets is a must if you want to keep your family healthy. Pet owners have dander to think about. People with allergies have to be cognizant of pollen traveling into the house and then settling in the carpet. Carpets feel so cozy on our feet, but really, they harbor all kinds of dirt and other nasty stuff that is sometimes unhealthy and gross.

Until now I was outsourcing deep cleaning carpets here. Some weeks I barely have time to vacuum, so I used to pay for a professional environmentally friendly company to come in and do the carpet cleaning. Lately, I’ve been lax. I just never got around to booking a carpet cleaning. Never seems like the right time and it falls lower and lower on my list of priorities. Clearly that’s not going to cut it anymore now that I have this Hoover Smartwash.

Due to our hectic schedule, the carpets haven’t had a good, deep cleaning in quite a while. I can tell it’s overdue because everyone in the house has stuffy noses and we’re sneezing more. And there are a few small stains on my stairs that irritate the heck out of me. Yes, I am that easily annoyed sometimes.

Every time I see that one nickel-sized spot on my downstairs steps I remember the time I carried herbal tea to the basement. Had planned a relaxing hour watching TV and sipping tea, but what I got was a child hiding around the corner who jumped out at me. We both almost got soaked in hot tea, but the stairs took the worst of it.

Suffice it to say deep cleaning carpets could wait no longer when this past week I received an amazing Hoover Smartwash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner. Sometimes I wonder who am I? Who is this lady who gets excited over carpet cleaners? But there it is. Honestly my husband was pretty excited to see this too.

I’m so glad I was able to partner with Hoover to talk about their new Smartwash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner. Hoover is a name I know and trust, so I was eager to give this carpet cleaner a try this week. So far so good.  I’m really pleased with it. Before I get too far ahead of myself, let’s look at what this baby can do.

Smart Deep Cleaning Technology

The Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner uses automatic cleaning technology to make carpet cleaning pretty much the same as vacuuming. Push forward to clean and pull back to dry. That’s it. No fiddling around with measuring solution, tons of button settings, or any of the other annoying things that can go along with steam cleaning. Just fill it up and do your thing. A big bonus for me is the Auto Dry feature which extracts water with HeatForce for even faster drying. That means I get my furniture back where it belongs and people can walk on the carpet sooner. Yay!

How Did it Work?

This week, I had a chance to give this a run for its money on my basement carpet and stairs. Started in the basement and got used to what this carpet cleaner can do. Then, I put it through its paces. Of course first of all I used my Hoover Air Steerable to vacuum and then I followed the instructions in the manual for the new carpet cleaner.

Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner is smart. Immediately out of the box I thought the Heat function was pretty impressive. Basically you load the machine with warm water and add solution to the reservoir. Then you push it forward. As you are doing that the Wash function comes on and cleans the carpet, pull back on the Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner and the DRY function kicks in. SMART!

Was the carpet completely dry after cleaning and using dry function? No, it wasn’t and that’s not the intention. But it does dry a bit and remove some of the water from the carpet. The dirty water tank after I cleaned the floor made me realize I clearly should have done these sooner.

After cleaning, unplug the machine and clean the unit. Dump dirty water down a laundry basin. Rinse it out and let the various parts dry off. Each removable part is easy to remove and reassemble.
