#FamilyDay Sweet Cheerios Treats #LMDConnector
This Family Day I felt like making a delicious treat I’ve had on my radar for awhile now. These chocolatey Cheerios bars looked so amazing months ago when I first spied them on the Life Made Delicious site, that I couldn’t wait. But we never really had the time, or the right ingredients until the other day.
Now, I modified these just a little. The original version is a yummy Chocolate Cheerios Hearts for Valentine’s Day, but honestly we’ve had enough hearts for the time being and I just wanted something I could make with the fabulous Peanut Butter Cheerios I am loving here. So with that in mind I substituted the Peanut Butter Cheerios. Everything else is the same, and as, you can see I didn’t cut these into hearts.
The recipe is easy and, oh my goodness, the crust is to die for. Buttery and the right little hit of crunch. It’s basically melted butter, vanilla flavouring, brown sugar, baking powder, crushed Cheerios and flour. Sigh! You can personalize with sprinkles and whatever you wish. These babies are perfect. I am inspired to make more from this site soon. Actually now that I see how easy and yummy baking with Cheerios is, I plan to make some Cheerios bars and balls and whatever else I find.
You can see that it came together pretty colourfully.
So just combine crust ingredients and blend for a couple of minutes with a mixer. Then bake for 12 minutes at 350. Pull that out and in separate bowl combine chocolate chips, Cheerios, clear corn syrup, melted butter and mix. Throw sprinkles in if you wish.
On the crust that’s still warm throw mini marshmallows. Melt the chocolate chip mix and then pour that all over the crust. (I put ours in the fridge to solidify for a bit). Then cut into squares or hearts or whatever tickles your fancy. Enjoy!
Disclosure: I am part of the Life Made Delicious blogger program and also an #LMDConnector and as such I received compensation for this post. My opinion is all my own.
