Summer road trips and business trips go hand in hand here. My summer has been filled with business trips. But the positive side of that is that my business is doing well. So I can’t complain about that. And I am able to combine my business trips with pleasure. So just last week I was able to do a quick business trip while also visiting my sweet niece and nephews in Toronto. That’s pretty fantastic, the best of both worlds, really. And there was New York City this summer, also always a treat! This coming week I am finally able…

For a few months now I have been talking about and sharing information regarding a new app that I love. Trymester will help any Canadian planning to have a baby now, or hoping to have one some time in the future. Trymester App is designed to help educate all Canadians about their fertility. Frankly, everyone can use more information on fertility and infertility. Information and education is power. Nobody could argue with that. If you want to learn more about Trymester APP available on the iPad join me, and Margarita Ibbott, and Linked Moms for a twitter event that I…

So here’s the thing. I’ve been agonizing all summer over a big change for my older daughter. She graduated from grade eight in June. Her year was not great. But let’s face it I’ve been feeling like public school has been letting me and my children down for years now. When my husband and I adopted our kids, we agreed on a lot of things. We agreed on French immersion and we agreed on names and RESPs for saving and he clearly, a Catholic kid, said NO to Catholic education. Interesting, right? He had some considerable strong feelings about that.…

Now I know some of us are torn about back to school and whether it’s a good thing or not. I mean on the one hand summer is ending and the weather is about to take a dive into single digits in the future again. That makes this Mom want to cry. But, on the other hand, the kids will get to see their friends again and that should make them happy. At least I hope that makes them happy. Then there’s the return to a typical routine – Fall brings a different rhythm to life – that’s for sure.…

I have partnered with Sherwin Williams to colour our space beautiful and make it ours. We have been here 1 1/2 years in our new house and we love it. We redid two closets and completely outfitted my home office. But now it’s time to make our house a home. We are tackling cosmetic home renovations here at my house. This week while the kids are at camp we are going to start painting a room. First up is my daughter Payton’s room. Painting a room is one of the easiest ways to completely change the feel of the space. And…

Every May conference season kicks off with flare. For the last two years I have been attending Mom 2. o summit. It’s always a great start to conference season. After that, a string of social media and digital media conferences pop up across North America. There’s Travel Bloggers Expo (TBEX), which takes place several different locations each year, Blogher and Bloggy Bash, VidCon, Food Bloggers Conference, Blog Podium, Type A Parent, and eventually Blissdom Canada which is usually October. It is possible for bloggers to find themselves racing from one conference to the next, from May to October. Organized bloggers, photographers…

This is the story of my love affair with Fiesta Dinnerware. Well, perhaps I exaggerate a little bit. But Fiesta has changed my life. Listen here’s the thing, my friends and family who know me well, know I do not embrace colour very often. I am happy with black and white and tan, mostly with some red thrown in. But Fiesta dinnerware rocked my world earlier this year and now I am changed. I am embracing gorgeous colours now, and cooking with the prettiest lemongrass casserole dishes and I am (gasp) even painting in our house and colouring the walls brightly,…

My kids started a pet-sitting business this summer. It just sort of evolved out of several requests for pet-sitters from friends of mine, some neighbours, and other bloggers. So this is one of the girl’s last jobs before they went to camp. This is one of my friend’s guinea pigs. His name is Charles. But Ainsley dubbed him Prince Charles. And this is how we pet sit. Lot of love for the pets. And if you are interested, and in my area of London, you can email me or PM me for more information about their rates. inkscrblr@rogers.com.

Once in awhile I write a post and the feedback I get is so clever that I learn something brand new. That’s a great side effect of blogging and having some super creative readers. This is one of those occasions. I wrote a post a few weeks ago about Carefree pantyliners and I asked you for your life hacks in general and also your pantyliner life hacks, or alternative uses for pads and liners. A couple of savvy people I know in real life (yeah I have real life friends I have met too actually.) have been using liners and…

I love gardening. It’s an enjoyable way to watch plants grow and know that I helped them do it. However, my green thumb can be a touch brown. And my soil here is oddly dry, almost clay like. My plants never seem to have enough water. That’s why I’ve put together a list of 5 drought resistant plants that can stand up to dry weather and a less than green thumb. These drought resistant plants are able to survive the lack of watering that a hectic life can almost certainly mean for them. Drought Resistant Plants to Survive Hectic Lives My…
