This is a sponsored guest post on the launch of The Perils of Pauline. Surviving Valentine’s Day: Pauline Parril’s Advice for Married Women by Pauline Daley-Parril Valentine’s Day hashtags are proliferating on Twitter. That means one thing: #valentinesdayiscoming. For single women, the 14th of February is tough enough when it’s #nodate and #aloneagain. But for married women, Valentine’s Day is a #minefield #forgetaboutit #norosesforyousister #fml. For women in general, Valentine’s Day is like trying on a new bikini: single girls hope to find something nice that handles the girls effectively but all too often end up with lingering regrets and maybe…

Nothing whispers romance like French cuisine. There’s just something inherently gorgeous about French food. Same can be said of travel to France and Quebec, and learning the language. This weekend I used two of my favourite Gay Lea Food products to create a lovely romantic and delicious meal. I hope this will be the best crepes recipe you have ever tried too. First the dinner…

It’s still early enough in the year that you can get away with tackling that organizing goal now. It’s always better late than never. My immediate organizing goal is going to have to be my pantry. Why? Because I keep buying things and filling it up and then forgetting what’s in there. Same truth can be said of my freezer however. But the pantry is first. If you are like me at all, then your pantry cupboard is a mess of boxes and containers and cake mixes and bread and there is often no logic to the shelves themselves.…

I apologize in advance for this small rant of mine. It is a little thing. An issue that is just nagging at the back of my brain like a itch begging for a scratch and so I clearly have to scratch it today, right now. This itch is a bit about me, but more so about business and professionalism and the spaces in which we use words to define us and label us. See right now, this itchy thing is threatening to become a full blown rash and I swear I know full well that is TMI and way more…

The Adoption Family Tree Printable is unique and intended to help kids visualize and process their place in the family and maybe even their understanding of adoption as a social phenomenon. Our kids often give new meaning to the proverb it takes a village to raise a child. Adoption and adoptive families are different. In more ways than most people can imagine. Once I wrote about some of the challenges of being an adoptive family here on CBC web site. Adoption is Not Like It Is In The Movies. Our kids often come with more challenges throughout life. They…

The ancestry topic is hot no matter what age you are. At some point in your child’s education they will start to learn about ancestry and heritage. This Traditional Family Tree Printable for kids can help them sort some of their heritage out. Family Tree PS-1 When you have little people it can be a lot of fun to help them discover their world. Part of that discovery process also involves figuring out who belongs where. Which uncle is married to which aunt? Who is that, as far as it relates to Daddy? My one daughter, even at 10,…

Ainsley graded on the weekend again. Now she is a fifth level junior black belt. She started martial arts at the age of four. Two years ago she became a junior black belt. I am always impressed at how athletic this kid is. Martial arts gives her such a great outlet for her energy. She excels at sports and martial arts and swimming and everything sporty that she has ever tried, with a small exception of soccer league play which never worked because, hello wide open field and she has always just wanted to run. Some of you know both…
