I am a fan of family time. But as the kids get older it is harder to carve time out for things like Family Game Night or Family Movie Night. Family game night is a tradition in our household. It’s a chance to disconnect from iPads, iPods, iTouches, and Android whatevers for a few hours and just be together. We love board games of all types, but lately our favorite game night activity is the Pie Face game. It’s a ton of fun. Family Game Night with Pie Face and Gay Lea The Pie Face game is exactly what it sounds like.…

Of all the people on your list this year, the tweens and teenagers can be some of the hardest to buy for. Oh sure there’s always gift cards. Kids like to spend those after they hit double digits. But if you are like me you still love to have something under the tree for them to open also. Gadgets? Sure, why not. But there are only so many electronics you can give. Kids, of all ages, still like something to unwrap and play with on occasion. So happy to share that HexBug has you covered this year for all the…

After the final harvest of the year, it will be time to winterize your garden. I promise not to be surprised or offended if some of you don’t know that winterizing the garden is a thing. Winterize Your Garden for an Amazing Spring When you winterize your garden, you get a spring with less work, more planting, and healthier plants. Here’s how. Don’t Throw Out Spent Veggie Plants This is important. I see so many gardeners…

Origami is the ancient Japanese art of folding paper. I happen to know this because I have a teenager who loves origami and Japanese culture in general. Traditional Japanese origami – paper folding began during the EDO period. The most commonly known form of Japanese origami is the paper crane. My teen folds these all the time and can also make origami bowls, plates and cups which is a party trick she tends to use when other kids are over. [tweetthis]Which of these origami crafts for kids will you try first? [/tweetthis] These ideas are totally appealing to the crafty…

Social media is here to stay and unfortunately that means social media bullying is also a threat, so you better get savvy about monitoring your child on their social channels. I wish more than anything that I didn’t have to write this post. I make my living off social media and I love it for many reasons. I use it mostly for social good to help build messaging on line for brands like World Vision Canada, and patient groups seeking help, or raising awareness, for issues like infertility, adoption, child poverty. I love what I do and it is the…

I first saw this ZB Freestyle Board at Blogger Bash in New York City at an event called Sweet Suite. I figured it would be right for one of my girls. Then the ZB Freestyle Board arrived last week and we set it up together for a test-drive here. The ZB Freestyle Board by Tucker Toys is the perfect toy for active tweens who like skateboarding. There are several different colours available. This sells for about $50.00. Pick up one for the tweens in your life who want to skateboard, or are already little boarders. Practice your flips and tricks and…

These types of parties and holidays can be every bit as much fun for Moms and Dads with a bit of planning. There are often cute and frightening Halloween recipes on line or on Pinterest that can…

K’NEX has a great reputation as a quality toy brand with educational potential for boys and girls who like to build. I always see their kits fully built out and tricked out inside toy store windows. I love some of the amusement park constructions and the more elaborate roller coaster builds are incredible. So, when K’NEX invited me to become a member of the K’NEX Blogger Network I was happy to join and test-drive the newest toys. Even I would welcome one of these K’NEX kits to build with. It’s fun for adults too. We received K’NEX Mighty Makers Home Designer…

Like a lot of families, my family uses SC Johnson Canada products. And while I’ve used them because they’re effective, I now have a new reason to keep on using them. My family and I do our best to reduce our impact on the environment, and so does SC Johnson Canada. Waste Free with the SC Johnson Canada Zero Waste Challenge My family and I live by the old adage, “Reuse, Reduce Waste, Recyle”. We all remember that ad on television. Well, my family and I have stuck to it the best that we can. We upcycle. We recycle. We mostly embrace the…

It’s been several weeks since we’ve heard from Christina here and there’s good reason for that! She had her baby! A baby girl. So super exciting. And of course she has been busy getting used to life with baby. BUT, I wanted to share this one with you today, because this is a post she did about Pregnancy Fitness Videos before baby was born. I love this lady because she makes me laugh so hard. Can’t wait to see what she says next week about a new baby seat. [tweetthis]Have you ever wondered about prenatal pregnancy fitness videos?
