Cooking With Kids: Festive Peppermint Bark
This week in my Cooking With Kids series on thriftymommastips.com we are tackling the most delicious and simple festive treat ever _ peppermint bark for Christmas!!
WARNING: You will not be able to resist.
Directions are easy.
Ingredients: Cookie sheet
Crushed candy cane bits.
One package of white chocolate bits
One package of dark or milk chocolate chips. (Your choice) Either one works.
With a clean cookie sheet ready to go take the dark chocolate chips and melt them in the microwave. Eyes on the prize here because they turn fast so stir and melt one minute at most. Stir until smooth and lay a single thin layer of chocolate on the cookie sheet. Place inside fridge for 10-15 minutes. Let chocolate harden.
Do same thing with the white chocolate then stir in half a cup of crushed up candy canes. (We actually bought humbug peppermint candies and crushed them up. Mix into the white chocolate and spread on top of the dark chocolate.) Refrigerate and then in 15 minutes chip it off into random chunks of bark.
This is simple to make and will be a big hit at any gathering.
