Six Great Ski Resorts in the U.S. #travel

US_ski_resorts
There are so many reasons to love winter weather.

If you love to ski, then you know that you need more than just good slopes. You need cozy comfortable accommodations when you come in from the slopes. These 6 best ski resorts in the U.S. have the powder and the cozy atmosphere that can turn a ski trip into an ultimate ski getaway. This year, I am hoping we can visit a couple of ski resorts in Canada or the U.S. and practice our new skiing abilities. Last year we were extremely fortunate to take a travel writer media tour to Mont Tremblant where they taught my family of four how to ski. It was extremely enjoyable and tricky too! I loved the challenge of learning to ski and my family fell for the sport hard. It was one of my favourite media experiences to date as a travel blogger.

Six of The Best Ski Resorts in the U.S.

These are the cream of the crop when it comes to the best ski resorts in the U.S. These resorts can turn a ski trip into a powder filled waxed ski nirvana. I have not visited all of these. I have been to Colorado a couple of times and loved it there. Maybe this year I will hit one or two of the other hot spots. In fact Vermont is currently being arranged, so soon I will have some posts to share with you from the slopes there. In fact I think we might do ski school there too!

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is not only one of the best ski resorts in the U.S., it’s one of the best ski resorts in North America. Jackson Hole is renowned for both its slopes and its wonderful accommodations. And when you add to that the fact that is has still managed to not become a overly crowded nightmare, it’s a top pick for any skier.

Vermont

There are so many great ski hills and resorts in Vermont that it’s really hard to pick just one. Soon I will be sharing our experiences there. The New Year is leading us to Vermont for our first ever Vermont family ski trip. Plenty of natural powder for skiers and snowboarders and Vermont is relatively easy to get to for residents of Ontario and Quebec. By the way did you know that there are a couple of Vermont ski resorts that take Canadian money at par? That’s a massive draw for this Canadian. Vermont has a reliable snowfall every year. In fact, Vermont has the most snowfall in the continental U.S.A. Vermont also boasts some of the ski resorts that open first in the season because of the large amount of natural snow they are blessed with. That’s a big draw for people who want to start early.

Alta, Utah

Alta, Utah is not a resort. It’s an area. However, with all of the private residences available for rent, it almost feels like a resort. Its gorgeous slopes, wonderful steeps, chutes, and bowls, and an average snowfall of 540 inches per year, make it a prime skiing destination for any snow lover.

Alyeska, Alaska

Second only to Alta for yearly snowfall, Alyeska makes this list of the 5 best ski resorts in the U.S. because it boasts an impressive amount of powder, wonderful lies, gorgeous topography, and a decidedly low number of visitors. That makes it a great place to get down to what you really love – skiing.

Vail, Colorado

Vail is more of a collection of ski resorts rather than one resort. It sports one of the best snow profiles in the region, and it consistently ranks as one of the best ski resorts in the U.S. because of that profile, the terrain, and the slopes that can accommodate beginners to the most advanced skiers.

Telluride, Colorado

Telluride closes out my list of the 6 best ski resorts in the U.S. because, well, it’s Telluride. If you’ve been skiing for any length of time, you’ve heard of this place. It’s one of those ski resorts that any downhill lover has to visit at least once. Although it’s the mecca of ski resorts, there’s more reason than that to visit this resort. Its slopes, ease of access and the town that surrounds it all combine to make it one of you best bets as one of the best ski resorts in the U.S.

These are All Winners

All of these destinations mentioned have earned the label of best ski resorts in the U.S. for one reason or another. Any of these are wonderful spots to pick for your next ski getaway. They all have the snow and accommodations that make for a wonderful ski getaway. So if you’re planning a ski trip this season, take a look at each of the resorts listed here. I’m sure that of these 5 ski resorts in the U.S., you’ll find one that suits your needs.
