Learning Toys Kettler Tricycle #giveaway and Sick Kids

Some of my regular readers know I spent time at the Hospital For Sick Children as a tween and teenager. My Mom ran me back and forth from Guelph many times over the years to see world renowned experts in paediatric gastroenterology. I hated being sick and I hated how it intruded in my life. The procedures were always incredibly invasive and travel was a difficulty. None of it was fun, but everyone at Sick Kids was always kind, caring and compassionate. I could never ever imagine a more caring place than Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. It is a place my own extended family came to view as a blessing. It is a place we have given much to over the years, because sickness when you are a child, just isn’t right. Kids should be kids. And children should all be free to tumble through life unfettered by illness.

When I was a young reporter I wound up back at Sick Kids following many stories about sweet children with life threatening illnesses and their remarkable families supporting them. Some of those story subjects I wrote about made it, with the help of the caring people at Sick Kids, and ended up cured, or in remission, or simply living life with illness. Many are happy healthy adults today. Some sadly didn’t pass through the natural stages of a lifetime that every tiny precious heart should be granted the opportunity to embrace.

This month, my favourite Canadian toy store has partnered with Sick Kids. For the month of May Learning Toys Canada has taken on a great partnership with the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. In support of the Sick Kids Healthy Happy campaign, Learning Toys Canada is giving 5 % of all proceeds to the amazing charity that helps heal children at their most vulnerable.
