Thrifty Momma’s Tips Top Five Christmas Movies
-
Toys
with Robin Williams.Love him and the supporting cast is explosive, literally. I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine. Love the music in this one too. Buy the soundtrack also and you won’t be disappointed. Beautiful Enya music.
- A Christmas Story (Two-Disc Special Edition) [Import]
Christmas Story
It’s not Christmas here if we haven’t seen this movie classic. Adore the hysterical acting and the overacting and Ralphie and his little brother too. Who doesn’t remember the major award, or the Red Ryder BB Gun?
- Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Rudolph
This one will forever endure and have a special place in my heart. As children we watched it every year with my Mom. And when she became a Grandma, she would sit with the grandchildren every year and watch this sweet story of a misfit reindeer.
- Home Alone: The Complete Collection
Home Alone The Collection
is a series of comical movies. The first is the best but number two is pretty hilarious as well. After that they sort of ran out of plots and characters. But even so, this series is sheer enjoyment and laughter for the whole family. What kid can’t relate to the idea of being left alone at home by accident?
- Polar Express
The Polar Express
is with Tom Hanks and it features groundbreaking animation. Plus a classic story. Really a great pick.

We love all of these too Paula! We also love Elf and laugh at it every year! Family movie night is a must during cold Alberta winters! Great recommendations! Angie

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Toys! I’ll have to check that one out!

It’s not necessarily for small kids and for sure has a message about war. But Tweens are totally good with the message of peace and war. I just love the characters in the movie and the music too !

Paula, great movies all of them! My kids are crazy about Home Alone and love seeing how the bad guys get put in their place by the kid! They always laugh the same everytime they see it.

Home Alone is a classic. I really like Mickey’s Christmas Carol as well.

We love Home Alone – it’s definitely a classic. I’m also a big fan of The Santa Clause – Tim Allen, ‘nough said. And for me A Christmas Story totally creeps me out, for no good reason.
