    Savvy Shopping With RBC Rewards

    November 28, 2014 / 103 Comments

I like to think I am a savvy shopper. That’s why I have an RBC Rewards credit card. I think it’s the best Rewards credit card. I use my card often and I rack up reward points quickly, which makes shopping a rewarding experience. That’s really what savvy shopping is all about for me. As we head into the holiday season, this Christmas almost everyone has a reason to shop, so why not be rewarded for your purchases? Every month I use my RBC Rewards card [www.rbcrewards.com] for all major purchases, prescriptions, family travel, gadgets, even a new closet we had installed. We moved this year and it was…

My Traditional Christmas Gift Guide 2014 #TMMGG2014

November 7, 2014 / Comments Off on My Traditional Christmas Gift Guide 2014 #TMMGG2014

Several weeks ago I announced my Gifts with Heart gift guide here on Thrifty Momma’s Tips. That Christmas gift guide 2014 is meant exclusively this year for gifts that give back to the world, or the community. Right now that means that it is dominated by World Vision Canada gifts. A gift from the catalogue there gives back to children and families living in poverty around the world. I have launched that guide and asked all my personal friends and family members to buy things such as artisan gifts from the World Vision gift catalogue. Many of my friends have informed me they are already doing that. Margarita Ibbott has picked…

Five Ways to Save Money on Summer Camp #MuskokaWoods

    March 13, 2013 / 13 Comments

Dear Mom: Remember last month when I reminded you all about how we needed to book my summer camps now! Well, I am really hoping you did that Mom. I want to get into the same overnight summer camp I did last year with my BFF. It was the most fun event of my entire summer. Oh I enjoyed Canada’s Wonderland too, but nothing will ever top staying up late, crafting all week long, singing songs and making my own dolls and then swimming in a lake and sleeping on bunks away from home. My counsellors were incredible. In fact, I am crossing my fingers the same ones are back…

Clean Up Your Couponing With Coupon Chief

    March 26, 2011 / 2 Comments

I am sadly the messiest person on the planet with my coupons. Just ask my kids! They are savvy coupon clippers. I am training them well. LOL. But the problem with that is my crazy coupons are: in the dining room; on the fridge; in my wallet (there are more coupons there than cash actually); in the pockets of my purse; in my daughter’s room; on my computer and on my KOBO. Really, I tucked one into my Kobo sleeve. Sometimes they fall from my pockets and I feel like that little cartoon character PigPen on Charlie Brown. Sooo  Embarrassing. But then I found CouponChief.com.   Clean up Your Wallet Now I…

Thriftybits is my first ever roundup of ideas that are affordable for families. I’m dubbing this Thriftybits. This is a post truly inspired by the name of my blog – thriftymommastips. So in that spirit here are my best tips to pass along this week, the first week of September that both of my children have been in school at the same time. Yippee!! And yet somehow this has translated into more work not less for dear old mommy. How does that work? Also FYI: this is my first giveaway. To win a copy of All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, follow @inkscrblr on twitter. Tell me what you…
