Carbon monoxide alarm installation is important for the maximum protective benefit to you and your family. Tragically, everyone has seen the stories on the news of families that simply don’t wake up. Entire households can die from carbon monoxide, a poison that many people don’t even know is in their home. Carbon Monoxide is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas and it can be deadly. There is nothing scarier to me as a parent. Danger from carbon monoxide poisoning is not restricted to any one season. It can be lethal all year round. That’s why carbon monoxide alarm installation, maintenance and replacement…

Travel is a doorway in Yelapa. What do I mean by that exactly? Well, travel itself is a doorway to another world, another culture, a geography, a lifestyle. It is bright. Travel is full of potential. It is a bit surprising. Travel can be confining, liberating, original, scary or safe. Like a doorway in Yelapa. My Favourite Pastime Travel is my favourite pastime out of all the possible diversions in life. In fact, travel plus writing, well it doesn’t get better than that. I am a strong believer in family travel and my kids travel with me as often as…

I am the proud owner of a jock. It’s true. Never met a sport she didn’t like. No, strike that. Love. Straight As in phys ed all of her young life. Which makes me laugh because my phys ed marks were pretty much the only ones that were never As. So I signed her up for basketball. And she loves it. I enjoy watching her play sometimes. Mostly I just enjoy seeing her do something she is good at that she also loves. My jock. This is a Wordless Wednesday post. Go ahead and link up and don’t forget to…

Dora The Explorer Live Show in London DududududududDDDDDDORA!! Even now with a teenager and a tween, I still hear that catchy Dora tune! Hard to resist. What did I love about Dora, as a parent? Well, Dora was a cute, smart and curious little girl. I am a parent of girls and I nurture curiosity. So I loved that. Dora was a polite character without all that snark or sarcasm that is sometimes on television. She is wholesome. I know that’s a strange, and maybe inadequate, word for what I am describing, but Dora was, and still is, a child…

Indoor chores are simple for any age. If your children are old enough to stand at the sink then they are also old enough to learn to help. There are many small simple indoor chores even toddlers can help with daily. The trick is making any job fun and encouraging them along the way. We have a few rules at our house. One of them is that we all strive to be respectful. That is a work in progress some days, because my kids are now 11 and 13 and they often argue a lot. But even when they do that…

One of my favourite features in our home is the hardwood flooring. I love hardwood. Let me rephrase that. I love hardwood flooring that is kept clean and shiny and is not completely scratched up by kids, or pets or wear and tear. So that’s the rub so to speak. Hardwood is only as good as the products you use to care for it, and the care you take with it. I confess that I see every little scratch in my hardwood and I obsess over that. Hardwood just looks better when it is well maintained. I am always on…

What’s Easter without a few treats? I strive to eat healthy and feed my family healthy foods, but when there is a holiday we enjoy sharing some baked goods with friends and family. Easter is a great occasion to experiment or try something new in the kitchen. That’s exactly what we have been doing this week. Sometimes you end up with a bit of magic. I think these Marshmallow brownie bites are magic. I hope you do too. Everyone loves Brownies, right? And I truly don’t know many people who don’t adore marshmallows too so it stands to reason combining…

For those of you who travel, for business or pleasure, like I do, and for those of you who actually need a bit of a boost for your wifi range at home, also like I do, the Netgear Trek is a great idea. I was sent a Netgear Trek to test out here for a few weeks and I have been working hard on getting used to the gadget. I had high hopes for this, maybe too high. The Netgear Trek is a travel router and range extender. It doesn’t come with cables or any extra parts. The Netgear Trek has…
