Please Vote: Wego Health Activist Award Nomination

I am not going to say I don’t do this often. But I am going to ask for your help. I advocate here often for issues that are close to my heart: senior’s health, Alzheimer’s research, adoption, child welfare and infertility. WEGO Health  I blog often about health and I champion the causes that mean a lot to me because behind every single one of these issues are real live people struggling with health issues. This month I was nominated for a Wego Health Activist Award in the category of Advocating for Another. Please take a moment to endorse me…

Kidz Bop 25 – Win Universal Studios Minion Contest

My kids are gigantic Kidz Bop fans, which makes me a Kidz Bop fan. I love the cheerful, familiar, tunes and family friendly lyrics.        Right smack dab in the middle of our snow day this week Kidz Bop 25 arrived. We might have cracked that CD open and danced a bit. Maybe. Snow days can be awfully boring especially when they are on the second snow day of the week immediately after a lengthy Christmas holiday. We just finished reviewing Kidz Bop 24 and Kidz Bop Christmas. You can read that review by clicking the link here.…

Disney On Ice at Bud Gardens – Discount Codes #ldnont

Every year, from the time my oldest was 2, we gleefully set aside an afternoon or an evening for Disney On Ice. Not sure who gets more enjoyment out of the amazing ice skaters – myself, or the kids? I wrote about the experience once and how blessed we are to get to see Disney on Ice through our children’s eyes.  That first year when I sat beside Miss Payton, aged 2, staring half at her and half at the ice as skaters told the magical story of Cinderella, Simba, and Belle, I caught myself crying. I never knew happy…

My Hopeful Year for 2014 Tween Fashion

Back in August of 2013, I wrote a fashion rant from the perspective of an annoyed Mom, and then hit publish and left it behind to do its thing. A Mom of tween fashion rant to be exact. Oh I noted a few comments over time and some tweets and so forth on the post, but I moved on to other topics. Today, because I am backtracking trying to learn a few things about what worked well on the blog in 2013 and what didn’t work well, I hit upon this back to school post again. It was one of…

    Charmed I’m Sure #WordlessWednesday

This was how we spent the day after Boxing Day. Uncle Norm bought Payton the coolest gifts this year. He nailed it with the Zoku and the Klutz Kids presents. This is the Klutz Kid’s Charms. It was such pure girly fun that we giggled and laughed and talked so much while making them together that my husband fled hearing range entirely.  Roll the tiny charms after you choose a design. The clay inside the kit comes in rainbow shades and is polymer. The designs are mapped out inside the book. There are some portion suggestions too. Almost fool proof.…

My 2014 Word of the Year Is…

As it is January and the month of giving intense thought to goals and resolutions, I wanted to take some time to define a philosophy for myself this year. A word that defines my business life, and my personal life and drives my activity for 2014.   Last year, I chose the word Health as my catalyst propelling me forward towards a better level of fitness and healthy living for my entire family. I think we tried despite the many challenges that were thrown into our path this past year. I am still a health blogger. Most weeks 80 %…

Kidz Bop 24 and Christmas CD Review

My kids are musically at a challenging age. Oh, they love music. All kinds of music. My youngest got an iPod Nano for Christmas and so we have been adding tunes and constructing a Playlist for her. At nine-years-old, this kid loves a range of eclectic music — from Michael Buble to Katie Perry. But some of the music she adores, or thinks she adores has lyrics I don’t want her repeating or hearing. So how do you juggle that? KidzBop Christmas Well KidzBop answers that question quite tidily, thank you. KidzBop Christmas arrived here on New Year’s Eve and…

Health and Fitness Review in Light of the New Year

Last year, I took a word as my mantra for the year. My goal. My defining philosophy. Today I am spending some time taking a recap of that year in fitness. And I am disappointed. My goal was health and healthy living. I tried hard. Until my Mom got sick and passed away unexpectedly and the whole family came off the rails for a period of time. Working out seemed a bit pointless and the process of planning a funeral kind of felt like life was trying to kick me in the head after declaring a goal of health and…
