This gorgeous movie The Hundred-Foot Journey opens tomorrow. My movie review is live on Thrifty Momma’s Tips. I was fortunate to see this incredible movie in San Jose at the Blogher 14 conference recently. As part of the movie centres on the culinary skills of Hassan Kadam, DreamWorks has also released several of the recipes mentioned in The Hundred-Foot Journey. This is one of the sumptuous treats from the lovely movie. Enjoy! Or perhaps I should say Bon Apetit.

The Hundred-Foot Journey is a real delight. This movie will steal your hearts and make you want to take your own parents to see the lovely story. Charlotte Le Bon, Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal in The Hundred-Foot Journey also starring Om Puri Last month I had the chance to preview the sweet, sensuous, film The Hundred-Foot Journey when I was in San Jose, California. It’s always a treat to see a film at the Blogher conference, but this one was unique and especially well told. The Hundred-Foot Journey is a story of culture and food, passion and love set…

Eating healthy for many mothers is a way of life. You may go out of your way to find all of the healthiest foods for you and your family to enjoy even if that means you will end up spending a little more on the groceries. Of course, a little planning can help frugal moms to find healthy foods the whole family will love for about $135 a week, according to the Mayo Clinic. The really good news is all the hard work you put into creating menus and buying groceries for your family can also turn into a full…

Today, on the last day of school my kids shared some treats with their individual classes. My kids are both crazy about cooking and they also love cake pops. Together we decided to try to make delicious owl cake pops. So last night we made these owls. I am pretty happy with them and most importantly the kids were proud of these owl cake pops. It’s our last day of school here. Not only is it the last day of school though, it’s the last day ever at this school where my girls have been students since they were 6 years…

Until recently I assumed Puerto Vallarta was simply a cruise ship stop. I was so wrong. Puerto Vallarta Mexico is a destination with a rich culture, amazing food and a host of activities for travellers of all sorts. This is another post in my Puerto Vallarta family travel series. This month I visited Puerto Vallarta for the first time ever. I have been to Mexico a few times now. We travelled to Cancun as a family and we toured Chichen Itza a few years ago. I find Mexico to be extremely affordable and enjoyable for family travel. We have also stayed…

Recently I was introduced to The Honest Company Kitchen Products and happily tested them out in my home. Here’s what I found out…. Let’s start with the name. The Honest Company. That’s genius. I want to buy honest products from honest people. The word itself is heavily weighted in emotional appeal. So I heart that branding. The packaging is adorable and this company gave every Mom 2.0 summit attendee a great bundle of their products. But do The Honest Company cleaning products live up to their name? [tweetthis]Do The Honest Company cleaning products work? Here’s what I found. [/tweetthis] It’s…

Despite the Ontario budget chaos and the plunge straight into election mode I flew to Atlanta to attend my first ever Mom 2.0 conference. The craziness at home just meant I spent a good deal of the time away working also and taking calls. (I do a fair bit of political and health blogging and all of that ends up kicked into overdrive when an election is called.) This was my first Mom 2.0 Summit. I really didn’t know what to expect but hoped for some great networking time and planned to build on some of my networking and…

The best part of unleashing my kids in the kitchen is watching them get creative. Late last week we got an Easter shipment of Kellogg’s products and a suggestion that we might want to bake something fun. We brainstormed today after the kids spent a huge amount of the day playing outside, riding bikes, hanging out at the park and enjoying the weather. I suggested that for Easter we could make some treats shaped like eggs. So here’s what we came up with – Spring Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats. My girls outdid me in creativity. Payton is sometimes a hoot…

There is something about Spring time and Easter that brings to mind fresh starts. The windows have finally been thrown open here after a long winter and we are enjoying being able to take walks, riding the bikes, and being able to explore our new yard. This year we will be starting new Easter traditions in our new home. There’s something exciting about that also. One tradition I look forward to every year is the Easter Egg Hunt. It’s a hold over from my own childhood and it brings out the child in everyone. Treats and Toys that are Safe…
