My daughter Ainsley doesn’t have eczema, but she does have extremely sensitive skin. That’s part and parcel for a child living with sensory processing disorder. She is easily irritated by many things and synthetic fabrics make her even itchier. Her skin is extremely dry also, so we use cream often. When Ainsley was little we experimented with many cosmetic options and lotions. But lotions that are overly greasy or scented also irritated her. It took us months and a whole lot of trial and error to figure out what worked. Lipikar Baume AP is one product that is gentle enough…

My new Hapari tankini. It worked well in Vegas, even though the temperatures were chilly. Let’s be honest. This time of year, if you are Canadian, there is only one thing you are thinking about. Travel. And if you are a girl, the next thing you think about is Holy Crikey what’s the 411 on my bathing suit situation? Do I have one? Will it still fit? Am I comfortable enough in it, to chase my children on the beach while simultaneously looking like a goddess? Is it too revealing? Does it cover my wobbly bits? I have no more…

Tria at Home Hair removal laser has been a regular part of my daily routine now for several weeks. This is post number four about the device which promises to remove hair permanently from legs, underarms and other areas of the body where unwanted hair grows. At the end of this series I get to give a device away (worth $449) and the giveaway will be open to Canada and the U.S. I have been faithfully using the Tria for several weeks, and have seen it easily integrate into the morning beauty routine here. It works best after a shower…

Baseball teams, budding fashion designers, tournament goers, fundraisers? I’ve even seen custom t-shirts designed that said Just Married, or Our First Trip to Disney. No matter what your purpose there is a T-shirt for you at Whoop-Tee. How tickled was I when WhoopTee approached me and asked if my readers would be interested in their design your own t-shirt business site? I thought, well of course. WhoopTee has offered five Thrifty Momma’s Tips T-shirts to my US readers. So follow the instructions to enter the contest and you can choose any size you want or need. I love how easy…

Well, we are very big Cheerios eaters here. It’s true. My family loves every variation of Cheerios and has for years, from first food to my husband’s only choice for maintaining his strict ninja training regimen (TEEHee!) Joking a bit, but honestly he’s fitness mad and he will only eat Cheerios. And I like to mock his ninja training while pursuing my own yoga training and weight lifting. We all love trying each new flavour of this tried and true staple in our kitchen. Anywho when I heard wind of this new peanut butter flavour offered for a limited time…

There’s only one Yo Gabba Gabba. Nothing else is quite like it. The fun and quirky techno musical show was a crazy hit from the moment it hit the TV. So how about the musical soundtracks and CDs based on the show? Well, luckily we landed one here for review and another for a giveaway. Yo Gabba Gabba Live starts with the Live Show Remix and hits cute fun lively songs like Pancakes & Syrup then onto That’s What Friends Are For. Some of the adorable songs here are catchy and clever, with light-hearted children’s favourites like My Dinosaur stealing…

The gift of memories and preserving memories is such a treasure, that I couldn’t resist highlighting this special journal I received for review this year. Journal 10+ is a keepsake for anyone who loves to write, anyone who has memories to share, or wishes to help a loved one preserve some of their special moments for others to read in the future. Journal 10+ is a great present for that hard to buy for grandparent or parent, sister or brother this Christmas. It is a unique journal that carries lasting appeal. This year I will give one of these…

Every Mom – or Dad – knows lunchbox letdown is a big deal when you are a kid. So how do you avoid the lunchbox coming back home from school completely full at end of day? Well, here, at the Schuck casa, we are huge fans of protein, fruit and vegetables in lunches and snacks. We try to eat healthy and give our kids good options for meals. School lunches have always been a challenge. And I think that’s the case for pretty much every parent alive. So once a week our kids get hot lunch and that saves me…

What’s your favorite sandwich? I like mine toasted first on a great bread, something substantial, not flimsy or too grainy. The bread, for me, is like the canvas for a work of art. I need it to be well constructed so I can build it high with all the fixings. First I like a good Swiss cheese, then liverwurst, mayonnaise, mustard and salami, maybe a slice of ham too, if we have it. Then I warm the whole thing up for about 20 seconds. Perfection. Writing about it makes me hungry. You can see, with that amount of yummy stuff…
