Dora The Explorer Live Show in London DududududududDDDDDDORA!! Even now with a teenager and a tween, I still hear that catchy Dora tune! Hard to resist. What did I love about Dora, as a parent? Well, Dora was a cute, smart and curious little girl. I am a parent of girls and I nurture curiosity. So I loved that. Dora was a polite character without all that snark or sarcasm that is sometimes on television. She is wholesome. I know that’s a strange, and maybe inadequate, word for what I am describing, but Dora was, and still is, a child…

Indoor choresĀ are simple for any age. If your children are old enough to stand at the sink then they are also old enough to learn to help. There are many small simple indoor chores even toddlers can help with daily. The trick is making any job fun and encouraging them along the way. We have a few rules at our house. One of them is that we all strive to be respectful. That is a work in progress some days, because my kids are now 11 and 13 and they often argue a lot. But even when they do that…

One of my favourite features in our home is the hardwood flooring. I love hardwood. Let me rephrase that. I love hardwood flooring that is kept clean and shiny and is not completely scratched up by kids, or pets or wear and tear. So that’s the rub so to speak. Hardwood is only as good as the products you use to care for it, and the care you take with it. I confess that I see every little scratch in my hardwood and I obsess over that. Hardwood just looks better when it is well maintained. I am always on…

What’s Easter without a few treats? I strive to eat healthy and feed my family healthy foods, but when there is a holiday we enjoy sharing some baked goods with friends and family. Easter is a great occasion to experiment or try something new in the kitchen. That’s exactly what we have been doing this week. Sometimes you end up with a bit of magic. I think these Marshmallow brownie bites are magic. I hope you do too. Everyone loves Brownies, right? And I truly don’t know many people who don’t adore marshmallows too so it stands to reason combining…

For those of you who travel, for business or pleasure, like I do, and for those of you who actually need a bit of a boost for your wifi range at home, also like I do, the Netgear Trek is a great idea.Ā I was sent a Netgear Trek to test out here for a few weeks and I have been working hard on getting used to the gadget. I had high hopes for this, maybe too high. The Netgear Trek is a travel router and range extender. It doesn’t come with cables or any extra parts. The Netgear Trek has…

I rarely share shots of my spouse here. Why? Because he hates having his picture taken. Sad but true. Husband of blogger hates having picture taken. Honestly. So capturing a nice shot of him on film is a big deal for me. I often point my iPhone at him when we travel and he turns or moves ruining the shot. Early in March we were all invited to Mont Tremblant to visit as a family unit. While we were there, the entire family learned how to ski in two days!! I am super proud of that, in case you couldn’t…

Happy Easter! If you are sharing some books with your children, or your grandchildren, nieces or nephews this Easter, then don’t forget the bookmarks too. I made these Kid’s Happy Easter Bookmarks for you to share. If you are at all like we are, then you are always hunting for a bookmark. Why is it always impossible to find one? Actually true story here. My older daughter was gifted a phone plan (she already had the phone but it wasn’t connected) last summer for her birthday. This March the phone went missing in a house full of readers and crafters.…

Spring weather inspires creativity. I have noticed just this week, in the first days of spring, that I am inspired to start new projects. I have also pitched old contacts new ideas and so on. That makes me feel positive and happy about the change of seasons. Are you noticing the same? Maybe it’s the thinner coats and clothes, but I feel somehow lighter and able to see all the possible wonderful opportunities to create. I am sure my kids are feeling the same in some ways. Lately when I knock on my older daughter’s door I see the sewing…
