What Do Kids Like Better Than Fart Jokes?
What do kids like more than fart jokes? Well pretty much anything gross. It’s true. They may pretend to be squeamish but when faced with an entire room full of displays about bugs that suck your blood and different types of animal scat, they are entirely captivated. So I knew when The Museum in Kitchener had a traveling exhibit called Grossology that my kids would love it. And they did. Last week I drove my niece back to Kitchener after a sleepover and met the rest of my niece’s family at The Museum. The entry fee for the exhibit is a bit steep at $13 a person, but the Museum…

Hiding in the Bathroom
I am hiding in the bathroom. And now I am writing a post about hiding in the bathroom. Because I have three girls in my living room, each one gorgeous and smart and related to me and therefore giving me back everything I ever dished out as a child. And yes, I love them madly, my niece included, but the 7, 10, and 11 year old girls in my house are giving me grief and I probably deserve it. But holy crapbuckets of all that is sweet and holy I am very unprepared for the coming teenage years and I see that now. Especially since a simple request that my…

Long Weekend Ribfest, Barbeques, and Wonder+ SimplyFree
Its London’s biggest barbecue – Ribfest – and it is one of our favourite things about life in London in the summer. This weekend we took a day and headed over to Victoria Park to sample the amazing ribs. This is one of my absolute favourite parts of summer – the long weekend barbecue. Whether you gather in a park with hundreds of others, or simply barbecue at home there’s no better way to celebrate summer. This past long weekend we did both. We headed over to Ribfest to enjoy the ribs, ride the rides and lap up the gorgeous weather and then we also had a quiet day at…

Safety Tat Review: Keeping Your Children Safe #travel
My daughter using the Safety Tat on her arm at Disney’s Blizzard Beach recently Safety Tat goes on like a transferable tattoo but it has the thickness and texture of a bandaid Did you know that 90 % of families will experience losing a child in a public place? Almost everyone will remember the trauma of getting lost. And in the US over 2,000 kids get lost every day. In Canada, in 2009 alone 50,492 children were reported missing. When it comes to safety and public places you can’t be careful enough with children. And even when you are sometimes that isn’t enough. My daughter Ainsley is a runner. When…

Worldictionary App Review – Decoding Different Languages for Travellers
Worldictionary is a great new app for travellers and business people. Also excellent for Moms and Dads with a child learning a second language in school. (Me!) So yes, it is virtually a good tool for anyone. I have been playing with this one for a couple of weeks and thought it worth sharing here. But How Much is It? The APP sells for $5.99 and uses the camera feature on your Iphone. It provides instant real-time translation for travellers. A useful feature if you are abroad and wondering what that roadside sign in Mexico means. Worldictionary by Penpower Technology works well with my Iphone 3GS and also runs nicely on the…
