Thriftymommastips on Fighting Flu Bugs and Staying Healthy With Kids
Last year during the devastating and deadly H1N1 Outbreak I wrote a post on staying healthy and fighting flu for the Ontario Ministry and Mom Central Canada. This year, although the flu outbreak has changed and H1N1 seems to no longer be an issue here, we are deep in the throws of cold and flu season and people are calling in sick in droves, while reports of emergency rooms being oversubscribed and overflowing continue to make headlines. The other day Ontario’s Minister of Health Deb Matthews wrote a letter to the editor appealing to people to find alternatives to the emergency room. It needs to be stated that I am…

Proactiv Canada Blog Tour: Final Reveal and Winners!!
The Before Photo About 30 days ago I was asked to take part in the Proactiv Challenge and Blog Tour with Mom Central Canada and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Hopefully you will be too. My skin tends to be dry and not so oily. But I was excited to test this product anyways for my readers. Also equally excited that this well known celebrity endorsed system was now being offered in Canada. My skin is definitely cleaner as a result of this Proactiv system and it was easy to use. I liked the cleanser a lot because it exfoliates well and leaves your skin shiny and smooth.…

Proactiv Canada Blog Tour: 30-Day Challenge and Last Chance at My Giveaway
A month ago I agreed to start the Proactiv challenge. The Proactiv system, created by two dermatologists, has been around in the United States for several years and is quite popular for radically transforming the skin of superstars like Katy Perry. So I thought I would give it a shot. At the least I was curious and, also in the back of my mind I was thinking too that it might be a product that my daughter, a tween, may need somewhere down the line. My usual skin care regimen is Avon or The Body Shop. My skin tends to be dry and not as oily as teenage skin anymore. Breakouts aren’t…

Last Minute Club and Saving Money While Seeing the World
So maybe you are looking to travel this year, really keen to get away from all of this dreadful snow we are having. But the budget is tight and the economy still doesn’t feel that great. Well, I have a couple of thoughts on that. There are a few ways to save money while seeing the world and one of those is http://www.lastminuteclub.com/ Last year for the first year ever I signed up for Last Minute Club. The club is a travel clearinghouse of sorts. You may have seen those old newspaper ads for Last Minute Club in the Toronto newspapers. The club has been around since 1977 ad is a…

Follow Friday and Find a Friend
How this works…so if you are a blogger, or a wannabe and you like discovering new friends on Fridays, you can visit these blog hops and make a few new pals. I like also Java’s blog (click on the t-shirt off to the side and visit Never Growing Old). You typically follow the first two or three blogs on the list and then choose as many as you wish. You can follow everyone or just a few. Then leave the blogger a comment and your address or http: so they can come and follow you back. Just a piece of advice – it is proper etiquette to try and follow…

EQAO Testing Scandal: Fallout
Tonight we lost a very good principal. One who helped shape and define the culture of our french immersion school. At issue were some test results. I have been on my daughter’s school council for a few years now, at Team Hiboux, a school under the umbrella of the Thames Valley District School Board. Several months ago our school EQAO test results were called into question. Tonight, I sat in a room and listened to the talking heads from the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) say that “the rules are very clear” and “all responsibility lies with the administrator.” Some discrepancy with rules of how the tests are opened, they…

Snapware: A Review and Giveaway
I’m a wee bit embarrassed to tell you how excited I was when this package arrived from Snapware just before Christmas. I joined the Snapware family at Christmas after I spied a review on line. I fell head over heels for the cupcake caddy and then I saw the egg-tainer and well, the deal was sealed. Snapware sent me an egg-tainer and a two-layer sandwich container to review. Oh and I have a treat for one lucky reader too, so follow instructions at the end. This is the egg-tainer snap and stack from Snapware and it holds upto 24 eggs perfectly, without them getting all jostled around and smushed. The handle is sturdy…
