My 411 Mabel’s Labels Review and Giveaway Open to Canada and US.
My 411 wristbands from Mabel’s Labels: Good for All, Excellent for Kids With Special Needs It is a moment, hardly longer than the blink of an eye, and your child disappears from your line of sight. Your stomach sinks, breath catches in your throat, heart freezes and your mind races. Where is she? Did someone take her? Is she hiding? You tell yourself it will be okay, but newspaper headlines are all you can see or think and you fly into panic mode, or maybe survival mode. Every parent on the planet, if they have a child who is old enough to walk, or run, has had one of these heart-stopping…

Mickey Moms Club: Giveaway
Planning a trip to Disney? Never before have their been so many great tools to help you map out all of the details. When is the best time to go? Where should I stay? How long is the lineup for Soarin’ at Epcot? Are there any special character meals I should plan for, and how far in advance do I need to book them? My child has a peanut allergy, where can we eat safely? How far am I from the nearest hospital should anything go wrong? Disney is one of my favourite destinations and companies. They do a lot of things really well. Their service is the best, top…

For Curly-haired Girls Especially: Review
This post is for all those curly-haired girls out there. My daughter Ainsley and I both have curly hair. Curly-haired girls often get noticed. But we also have a love hate relationship with our hair. Our hair can be an instrument of torture. Nobody gets tangles like curly-haired girls. When we are little we suffer through agonizing hours of brushing, tugging and ripping hair out by the roots. When we are older we learn to hunt for the products that will nourish our hair, which is often dryer than straight hair and certainly more prone to damage, leaving split ends and tangles. I received a bottle of Matrix Biolage Detangling Solution, light conditioning…

Bing “Our School Needs” Contest and Blog Tour
School – at least a good school – is not just mortar and bricks and classrooms. A good school is a place that takes young minds of all abilities and nurtures them, recognizing the strengths and building those, while helping minimize or work on weaknesses. Good schools are places we remember as second homes. Places that inspire and help children grow to their full potential, emotionally, physically, socially and academically. They are incubators of sorts, places that will grow new thinkers, new nurturers and new innovators. Good schools embrace parents as partners. Good schools see that they are a part of a community and, similarly, good communities recognize in a…

Maple Leaf: Natural Selections: Giveaway
Once in awhile there comes a product I just have to share with my readers, friends and family and I discovered this one a couple of weeks ago at Shes Connected. We sampled some of these yummy all natural cold cuts at the conference in Toronto a couple of weeks ago and last week I purchased some for my family to try. Dianne of @those2girls says they are the only deli meats allowed in her home now. We bought the…

Best Use of Social Media During an Election Campaign Award
Picture courtesy of Wiki Commons, by Rico Shen There was a stunning upset and a race that was neck and neck. And then a collective intake of breath heard in many houses this morning when their Free Press finally arrived on the doorstep. London declared its new Mayor Joe Fontana in the wee hours of the morning. Fontana’s name has long been associated with politics and he was, for many years, an MP here. Longtime Mayor Anne Marie De Cicco conceeded defeat, perhaps hurt by her opponent’s platform of tax cuts, perhaps damaged somewhat by her husband Tim Best’s arrest and subsequent unfortunate headlines. I am not interested in speculating on any of that.…

Kleenex Handtowels: Your Turn
Mom Central Canada sent me a batch of these new Kleenex handtowels last week and I am supposed to use them and get back to the company about them next week. But they’ve prompted debate in my house. See I personally kind of like them, because cold and flu season is endless here and these throw-aways are simply more sanitary than regular hand towels. The box is cute and decorative anf suits the room and I don’t feel they are any worse than paper handtowels in restrooms. They are thicker and nicer and one sheet does the job. Also I am a Mom that likes to have options. …
