Smart Travel Tips For Women With Light Bladder Leakage ( LBL ) #ad
I am a Mom who loves to travel and I have always loved to travel. For a time, in my 20s, before I had kids, I didn’t really know if I’d be able to manage travelling again. My health issues were sometimes so challenging that travel wouldn’t have been wise. In fact, it could have been dangerous. So, when my health started to improve I began travelling again, and this time with my entire family. Together we have gone swimming with dolphins, parasailed, seen The Mayan Ruins, cruised to Grand Cayman where we explored a sea turtle sanctuary. We’ve been snorkelling with stingrays and nurse sharks, snorkelled, ziplined, and captured magical moments while learning a thing or too about the world. Imagine if you missed all of that because you stayed home.
That’s exactly what happens to many women who have light bladder leakage. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s just one of those things that women often struggle with. Plenty of moms have LBL. One of their biggest complaints about having this problem is that travel can be difficult. I agreed to talk about this product and this issue here because I often write about health issues and women’s issues and travel. But what’s more important than all of that to me is accessibility and quality of life. When you miss out on things, because of a medical condition, your quality of life is impacted. I don’t have light bladder leakage, but there was a time not so long ago when I had to shop for products that would enable a close relative to be able to live independently. I wish that I had known about Always Discreet then because they truly are discreet. This would have been a game changer for her, as Always Discreet is for so many women.
All About LBL
LBL stands for Light Bladder Leakage, but you probably already know that. What you may not know is that there is still a real stigma associated with it. I suppose I am not so surprised by that. It’s a medical condition and it’s not talked about that often hence the stigma. You shouldn’t feel like a pariah, but did you know that 6 in 10 women with LBL actually do feel ashamed over it? That’s a shame, because 7 in 10 women under 55 years old have some form of LBL, and 4 in 10 women over 55 have some form of LBL.
It’s a real problem. Women are so ashamed of LBL that 1 in 5 women will actually avoid sex because they’re embarrassed by their urinary incontinence. If that weren’t enough, 11% of Canadian women avoid seeing their family and friends as well, and about 52% of Canadian women under age 55 have some level on anxiety as a result of their urinary incontinence symptoms.
To make matters worse, many women are affected by daily activities or situations. This leads to an even greater sense of self-consciousness. Did you know that almost half of women experience bladder leaks before they get to the restroom? 15% of women believe that bladder leakage affects their daily work of activities. 42% of women experience LBL while they sleep, and 62% of women say that it impacts their sleep. 8 in 10 experience leakage when they cough or sneeze and over 1/3 say that LBL affects their ability or desire to travel.
This feeling of anxiety and self-consciousness is a real problem. This is an issue that affects women so much because they feel unclean. I’ve talked with a lot of moms who have this, and it impacts confidence and daily habits. In fact, I have also learned that many women buy sanitary napkins and use them for LBL because they often are not aware that discreet options exist. That’s why I’m not surprised that several of my friends will actually avoid travel because of their LBL.
I hate to see anyone losing out on life because of anxiety over a medical condition so here are a few tips to help you travel confidently with Light Bladder Leakage.
Traveling with LBL
Light bladder leakage is nothing to be ashamed of. That being said, there are things that women with LBL can bring or do to help them feel more confident while they travel. Don’t avoid travel. Embrace it with support. You can try them out right now for free. Just click here for a free Always Discreet sample.
Books, Music and Things That Help You Relax
I can lose myself in a good book. It’s hard to stress out when you’re engrossed in a fantastic read. Same can be said for good music, whatever your taste. Vacations are for relaxing, so bring the things that help you to destress.
Plan Ahead
What does that mean exactly? Well, if you are anxious about travel and anxious about a health issue like light bladder leakage then you are going to start the vacation stressed out. No Thanks. Do what you can to eliminate the worry. Plan for emergencies. What if you end up with a unanticipated layover or a flight delay? Pack an extra book, stock up on apps, charger cords, money, medicine and Always Discreet in a carryon bag. Knowing you have all that covered, makes the unexpected travel detours manageable.
Wear Breathable Clothes and Layers for Airport Travel
Traveling is so much nicer when you feel comfortable. Clothing that breathes with you makes a huge difference in an airport when you can be hot and cold inside a five minute time span from airport to plane. Keep a Light sweater handy at all times.
Always Discreet
If you have LBL, Always Discreet is a great way to boost your confidence when you travel. Always Discreet is the leading brand in urinary incontinence control. Their pads are thin, yet super absorbent, so you can feel confident in how you look and feel. And their super absorbent core also helps to lock away odor as well, which is a concern of many women with LBL. The size and discreet nature of the pads makes it easy to travel with this product. By the way right now you can have free samples mailed to you. Just visit Always Discreet web site for more information.
LBL is a Condition not a Life Sentence
LBL is nothing more than a medical condition. It’s not a life sentence to purgatory. And with Always Discreet, you’re more free than ever to get out there and do what you love and go where you love to go. Don’t let LBL control you. Control it!
I created this post as a paid ambassador with Always Discreet. All opinions and advice are my own and I only work with companies I genuinely love.

I don’t have leakage issues, but there is a whole group of moms in my zumba class who do & there is always a collective sigh when a song with jumps comes on!

Wow, I had no idea the numbers were so high for women and incontinence or sensitive bladders! Much higher than I would have ever guessed. As I am now in the peri-menopause stage I can totally relate to this and yes, how it is often kept “secret,” like most female issues tend to be. I am already a fan of Always so good on them!

You know what’s awesome? That people are TALKING ABOUT THIS. I feel that the stigma is going away. Kudos to Always 🙂

It is great that this is becoming less stigmatized. Traumatic births so often lead to bladder leakage in women but no one talks about it. Thank you for tackling this tough issue.

Thanks for your kind comments Merry! This is important I think too.

The only time I had to deal with leakage was when pregnant with #5 and #6. Thankfully, it hasn’t been an issue since but I’m sure it will come sooner rather than later. I’m glad theres products like this out there to help if and when it happens!
