    Blue Mountain Resorts Summer Activity

Skiing, snowboarding, skating. Blue Mountain Resorts and winter go hand in hand, but what do you know about summer at Blue Mountain Resorts? What can there possibly be to do in the summer? Turns out there’s activity around every corner at Blue Mountain these days. My kids are nothing if not active, so when Blue Mountain Resorts invited us to stay with them in June and test drive some of their great activities, well giddy up I said. Bring it on. What Can You Do in Summer at Blue Mountain Resort? We arrived on a Wednesday in a spell of…

    One Good Thing Today #specialneeds

If today were a golf game I would ask for a mulligan. Not that I know golf, or anything else much today. It is summer and I love the hot weather. I can’t get enough of it in fact. It is my favourite time of year. We had a fantastic weekend followed by one child’s birthday and a day to sleep in. Perfect, right? Not so today and yesterday. I have done two full summers now with scheduling my kids solidly almost every minute out of necessity. Their special needs, plus caring for my Mom and needing to be available…

    How Do You Measure Eleven?

This was 11. This was 11. The year you grew maybe an inch in height. Not so much really compared to all the years that came before, but then again who really measures growth in inches? Eleven was the year you faced camp, for the first time on your own. A week with friends and it was glorious, or so I am told daily as the camp countdown begins another year. This was the year you finished grade six. The year I had to pull you out of school for two whole weeks because of a terrible fit between you…

    Blue Mountain, Collingwood Scenic Caves

My kids have the hearts of explorers. So last week when we had the chance to stay at Blue Mountain Resorts, Westin Trillium House for a family blogger retreat and we saw that a visit to Collingwood Scenic Caves was on the schedule, well I knew we had to bring walking shoes and take photos. When I was a child my Mom drove us to Collingwood for family vacations in the summer. I vividly recall exploring Collingwood Scenic Caves and the Blue Mountain Resort area way back in the late 1980s. Collingwood was one of my Mom’s favourite Ontario destinations…

Organizing and Rubbermaid All Access Bin Review

My Mom had a lot of collections. She collected dolls and angels and photos. When she passed away recently, many of her treasures came to me. There are a few special things I want to keep for my kids. As I mentioned, there are many beautiful collector dolls in great condition. My children are getting older, but I still don’t trust them not to break their grandma’s special cherished items. At the same time my storage space is at a premium. In fact it’s past capacity to overflowing here and we badly need a garage sale. I can’t keep half…

Deep River Snacks All Natural Kettle Chips Review

Deep River Snacks makes several tasty items, but this week right before a road trip to Blue Mountain I was sent a box full of their kettle chips. I was thrilled to note the variety of unique flavours from Sweet Maui  Onion to Aged Cheddar and Horseradish and my old standby favourite – Sea Salt and Vinegar. The Sweet Maui Onion was delicious and the Sea Salt and Vinegar is always a hit. The Aged Cheddar and Horseradish nearly burnt my lips off, but just because that flavour wasn’t for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be your new favourite snack.…
